Ratings: Crazy Ex Dips to 0.2 Demo Low, Castle Outdraws Blindspot

The CW’s already renewed Crazy Ex-Girlfriend this Monday drew 710,000 total viewers and a 0.2 rating (per finals c/o TVByTheNumbers), dipping 12 percent and a tenth to its second-smallest audience ever and a new demo low.

Leading out of that, Jane the Virgin (770K/0.3) slipped 16 percent and a tenth to hit and tie series lows.

Elsewhere in the ratings….

ABC | Dancing With the Stars (12.5 mil/1.8) was down from both its most recent (13.1 mil/2.1) and its year-ago (14.2 mil/2.1) premieres. Castle (6.5 mil/1.1) was steady in the demo while drawing a larger audience than Blindspot for the first time ever.

NBC | The Voice (11 .2mil/2.8) dipped 12 percent and two tenths week-to-week; Blindspot (5.9 mil/1.5) ticked down.

CBS | Supergirl (6 mil/1.3) and NCIS: LA (8.7 mil/1.3) were steady, while Scorpion (8.6 mil/1.5) ticked down to hit and tie series lows.

Damn, was really hoping Supergirl would have ticked up a bit more this week. I know the 1.4 episode a few weeks back eventually got back up to 2.1 with Live+7 (proving that most of the same audience is still there, they’re just waiting until later in the week to watch now), but I’m sure CBS would still like to see that initial number be a lot higher.

  2. Tica says:

Even though I loooovee Becket(Stana is the reason why I watch Castle) I missed her and Castle working together, but I’m ok with these numbers (for now) by the way I want season 9!

    • Lyn says:

i don’t even recognize Castle as the show I used to love. WTH did they do to it? IMO it’s now a garbled mess.

      • Marci says:

I agree, Lyn. I stopped watching in exasperation after the phony breakup. I did watch the Los Angeles episode to hear the big reveal, which turned out to be a stupid and implausible disappointment. I hope ABC cancels it and puts us all out of our misery.

        • Susan Smith says:

You didn’t watch last night’s show? It was Amazing. Best show since the breakup. Bad Ass Beckett shined. The boys and Lanie were great. Of course the writers still tried to make Kate wrong but the truth is all of it started because of Ricks decision. If They had gone after LockStat Together the “broken Beckett ” BS &the “breakup” wouldn’t exist.Great show. And what seemed like real Caskett at the end.But these Show Runners have a mean streak so we’ll see.

  3. kmw says:

Too bad for Gotham and Lucifer was hoping they could tick back up. And really good for Castle if it holds. Nice that Blindspot stayed steady.

  4. Tiff says:

CBS needs to come and renew Supergirl. The episodes are getting better and better. Come CBS stop being Stupid and renew Supergirl. Forget the rating. Sometimes it’s about quality not quantity.

    • thisismenow says:

It’ll likely be one of the renewals they announce in May. The networks aside from the CW won’t show their entire hand until that point. Otherwise it takes away from some of the draw for people to see what their schedules look like.

  5. Kate says:

That’s too bad about CXE, I personally watched it live (and it seriously made me cry at one point) and I believe I managed to see all the Voice performances (thank you You Tube). I record Supergirl and then watch that.

  6. Mr. Tran K says:

ABC needs to come and renewed Castle for a proper “final season”. The 8 pm Monday night time slot continues to be a big problem for The CW and I’m wondering if the network has plans to move Crazy Ex-Girlfriend to a new night or push to mid-season.

  7. Courtney says:

What in the world to both the ratings for Crazy and Jane?! I watched both live and I absolutely love both of those shows….how can the ratings be so bad? I am happy both shows have already been renewed, but it worries me that the ratings are so low.

    • Marci says:

I’m worried too, Courtney. Even though both shows have already been renewed, the CW could still change it’s mind. Let’s keep our fingers and toes crossed.

  8. TvLover says:

I don’t watch My Crazy Ex-Girlfriend but I do watch Jane the Virgin and all I can say is, yikes!
I really don’t watch a lot of CW shows but could anyone tell me if those low veiwer numbers and ratings par for the course for those shows and the network?
I’m relieved that Jane the Virgin was already renewed because if it were on any other network I’d be worried that a cancelation was inevitable.
Really liked the Blindspot episode last night.
And was surprised to see Castle’s ratings slowly claw its way back up from the ratings hole. If it isn’t adjusted otherwise I won’t be shocked if the revised ratings end up being lower, oh well.

    • Bartimeus says:

The CW can *usually* pull 0.5 at least which nowadays makes a show pretty safe, The Flash is their highest rated show and gets 1.3, 1.4 sometimes a 1.5 … CEG and JtV are their lowest-rated dramas right now I believe.

  9. M.... says:

Feels like Lucifer is being held back by it’s lead in…still, those numbers should be ok for a renewal.
Wow CEG & JTV, those numbers are dreadful…i don’t watch both shows & I don’t know anyone who does either…but i still root for them both. CW needs to move both to summer

  10. Phil says:

Oh CW! Anyone else think they should swap timeslots on these two shows? Jane at 8pm and Crazy at 9pm? Jane is much more family-oriented and, as the established show, should lead.
At these numbers and at this point in the season it really doesn’t matter, but that makes a bit more sense.
DREAMGHOSTS! I LOVED this episode’s exploration of Rebecca’s childhood issues. This show actually takes a fascinating look at a character’s basic personality traumas and how they fit – and don’t – into their world. Plus, the way Rebecca wakes up got the biggest belly laugh out of me in a long time.
And I think the speech about not recognizing the love we do have is extremely on target to a lot of people in their twenties. Maybe viewers just don’t want to face hard truths they don’t want to recognize in themselves and refuse to watch?

  11. tvjunkie says:

How does CW not lose money with ratings like that on Mondays? If not for the awards those 2 shows would have been long gone. Apparently the people voting on the awards are about the only ones watching.

  12. jp says:

what do they expect – we had several weeks of repeats and last night both the voice was on and dwts premiered.

  13. ABG says:

Ugly lows for both CW shows. I love JTV, so this is really sad.

  14. Jared says:

Having The Voice and DWTS on at the same time just kills The CW’s Monday nights. I’m guessing theres a lot of audience overlapping. I’m just happy Jane The Virgin has already been renewed.

  15. Steven says:

Good. Crazy Ex-Girlfriend deserves even lower ratings for pushing Greg and Rebecca crap

  16. J says:

Just move Crazy Ex Girlfriend back to Showtime where those ratings wouldn’t look as bad. I can only imagine what the ratings will be come its second season.

  17. NCmacASL says:

Not Surprised at CXG’s numbers due to DWTS Premiere – both shows would tend to draw a similar demo but DVR, etc. should help improve those numbers a lot. I love *both* shows!!

  18. N says:

    Renew Castle

  19. sarah31733 says:

I tried CXG when it first came out but just wasn’t for me and I’ve had conversations with a couple other people who say that. I used to watch Jane live but I’ve been really frustrated with this season (and it isn’t because I’m team Rapheal but because no one seems to stay with anything longer then an episode!! And something is just off, I’m not sure what it is) and now record it but watch it whenever I get around to it.

  20. Boiler says:

As I loved Hart of Dixie I sort of am laughing at the The CW. Sorry to those who like those shows. Castle is performing better than many of the new shows already renewed, at least in audience. Hopefully the only hold up is contracts. Based on other ABC renewals it deserves to be back

  21. Alicia says:

What? 0.2? It’s so depressing (and I believe inaccurate with this medieval rating system) because CXG is such a good show, and yesterday’s episode was excellent. I watched live but now I’m going to re-watch on CW website as a thank you for renewal.

    • ? says:

People just aren’t interested in the premise. So even if it’s a very good execution of its premise (which it sounds like it is), few people are going to watch because they just aren’t interested.

  22. James D says:

I’m not that surprised about Castle beating Blindspot. the show has dipped in quality since it has returned from hiatus IMO I really hope that it’s just a fluke and the writing will improve again because I love the show but it is getting harder to look past it’s plot holes and weak writing. As for Castle really hope it starts to tick up a wee bit in viewership the Demo is perfectly reasonable i think. I want a season 9 and 10 :)

  23. ClearlyDemented says:

Well, count me in on the live+3, as I watched both today. I think, like Cougar Town, the demographic for these CW shows are people who wouldn’t watch shows with these titles. I wouldn’t have considered watching with JTV or CXG (although CEG, right?) if it weren’t for reading good reviews and realizing the shows are more than their name. I adore CXG and am so excited it’s renewed. Name them something else, slap them on ABC after all the Shonda shows (which I don’t watch) and people would be all over them.

  24. emy says:

Scorpion ticked up to 1.6 so it was the #1 scripted show on Monday night! Scorpion is so entertaining — never boring! a great family show!

  25. Morgan says:

Hello My name is Monica Morgan, Am from USA, Texas. and I am very happy for posting on this blog on how a great spell caster helped me in bringing back the love of my life. I know there are lots of women like me out there who have done so much to have back their Husband, I am here to tell you all to search no further because the answer is right here. I sincerely believe if there are up to five spell casters like Dr okija this world would be a better place, I have seen people complaining on how fake spell castes promised to help them but couldn’t but with Dr ogbodumaka I tell you your problem is solved already. My Husband and I had been apart for 4 YEARS and I couldn’t bear without living with him, I have tried everything to have him back but nothing was working until I saw numerous testimonies about a spell caster called Dr ogbodumaka and how great his work is. I contacted him via email ( immediately and follow the step that he ask and in less than 48 hours my lover called me and was eager for my forgiveness and that he wished nothing more than to have me in his arms forever. I filled so much joy and happiness that I found Dr ogbodumaka, I hope you all here will find this testimony of mine and get your husband back in just 48 hours thanks… contact his )
