Matthew Perry to Star in Reelz's Kennedys Miniseries Sequel

Reelz is once again revisiting the Kennedy clan, and this time they’re bringing one of their Friends.

Matthew Perry will play Ted Kennedy in the cable network’s upcoming miniseries The Kennedys — After Camelot, in addition to serving as an executive producer.

Based on J. Randy Taraborrelli’s New York Times best seller After Camelot: A Personal History of the Kennedy Family 1968 to the Present, the four-hour mini is a follow-up to 2011’s The Kennedys, which starred Greg Kinnear as Jack Kennedy and Katie Holmes as his wife, Jackie Kennedy.

The continuation showcases Perry’s Ted Kennedy in the years after the assassinations of his brothers Jack and Bobby and explores his attempts to live up his family’s political ambition and fill a male leadership void within the brood. Holmes will reprise her role as Jackie Kennedy Onassis, whose relationship with her brother-in-law Ted grew ever closer as they turned to one another for support throughout their lives.

After Camelot will premiere in spring 2017.

Perry can next be seen in Season 2 of CBS’ The Odd Couple, premiering April 7.

  1. Walkie says:

    Really?

Get ready for a terrible “Kennedy” accent.

  2. Luis says:

Perhaps it’s uncouth of me to bring this up, but is it ironic to have an actor so famously in recovery playing the man responsible for the most infamous drunk driving accident in American political history?

  3. Matthew Perry’s involvement with Part 2 of Kennedy Mini-Series is a wonderful opportunity for Matthew to show more of his talents. Do you recall his guest appearances on ‘West Wing’ and ‘The Good Wife’? He’s more than “Chandler Bing”! People, it’s time to leave ‘Friends’ & “Chandler” behind. It’s been almost 12 years since show ended. Move on!

The Kennedy mini-series hasn’t even started filming, the show airs in 2017, so how can you trash ihim before you have watched an episode? As for relating his past alcoholic struggles with the infamous Chappaquidic (sp) incident has no relevance. People find reasons to criticize Matthew for “his past”. What does that have to do with anything? Are you saying that he should be condemned by society and not be allowed to move forward and live his life? Me? I am proud of all people who have worked hard to gain sobriety and return to making a new life and moving on.

Way to go Matthew and we wish you an enjoyable experience with the filming, production, etc. of Part 2 of The Kennedy’s mini-series.
