Late Late Show to Air Carpool Karaoke Primetime Special, Featuring New Segment With Jennifer Lopez

Haven’t gotten enough of Adele singing the Spice Girls? Neither has CBS.

To commemorate James Corden‘s one-year anniversary as Late Late Show host, the network will air The Carpool Karaoke Primetime Special on Tuesday, March 29, at 10/9c.

The hour-long program will feature Corden as he revisits memorable installments of the viral video series, and American Idol judge Jennifer Lopez will join Corden for the latest ride-along.

“I have loved every minute of hosting The Late Late Show. It’s been an incredible year,” Corden said in a statement. “I look forward to this hour on primetime to look at some of my favorite moments and share a couple of great new ones. I can’t wait!”

Added executive producer Rob Crabbe: “We’re thrilled with the opportunity to introduce a primetime audience to some of the fun we’re having every night after midnight. We can’t wait to share our big opening number and to see what James and Jennifer Lopez get into as they Carpool Karaoke to work.”

The Late Late Show — which airs weeknights at 12:37 am — has had considerable success with Carpool Karaoke since Corden took the hosting reins last March. Not only has Adele’s appearance notched 84 million views on YouTube, making it the most-watched late-night clip ever, but Corden and his fellow EPs are shopping a full-blown Carpool Karaoke series to cable networks.

Comments are monitored, so don’t go off topic, don’t frakkin’ curse and don’t bore us with how much your coworker’s sister-in-law makes per hour. Talk smart about TV!

I just can’t see this as a series, but if it becomes one it better be only ’30 minutes’. A full hour is just too much.

    It’s a fun segment though!

While I love CPK, this plus the possibility of a series seems like too much of a good thing.

  3. Philip says:

Are they putting out new CPK’s every other week with different singers? Does it seem like too much of a good thing? Jimmy Kimmel’s mean Tweets are only a few times per year. I know that this is only a Best Of with one new one, but this program has only been in existence for 1 year.

I am enjoying that picture with the title…’My Jennifer, you’ve…changed.’
I’m skeptical of this new idea, but we shall see.

what happens every single time a network milks a show? it turns to crap and gets over saturated.
