Big Hero 6 TV Series

Big Hero 6 Animated Series Coming to Disney XD in 2017

Disney XD is scheduling weekly trips to San Fransokyo in 2017.

The network on Wednesday announced production on Big Hero 6: The Series, an animated show based on the 2014 movie about a 14-year-old boy named Hiro and a giant, inflatable robot named Baymax.

“Our colleagues at Walt Disney Animation Studios have created a brilliant new world, inspired by Marvel, with vivid, unique characters,” says Disney Channel President Gary Marsh. “We are thrilled to have the opportunity to further develop these characters into a world class animated series — full of fun, action and the kind of endearing storytelling that only Mark, Bob — and  Baymax — can deliver.”

If you’re totally unfamiliar with the Big Hero 6 movie, check out the trailer below:

Mark McCorkle and Bob Schooley, who created and executive-produced Disney Channel’s Kim Possible (2002–2007), are on board to EP.

  1. Fantastic. That was an awesome movie. What kind of animation can we expect to see, though? Will it be like Clone Wars and keep the same style as the movie, or be done in traditional animation?

Kim Possible producers sound like a good fit. That show was adventurous and fun, right?
Big Hero 6 hit home, so I’m happy to see those characters continue in non-movie format where they can evolve more naturally.

My four year old nephew LOVED Big Hero 6, and we even had a BH6-themed party for his birthday in September at a sushi restaurant, and it was so much fun to organize and do. He will be thrilled for a series!
