Powerless Cast

Danny Pudi, Alan Tudyk Join Powerless, NBC's DC Comics Superhero Comedy

NBC’s Powerless is gaining some serious geek cred.

Community‘s Danny Pudi and Firefly‘s Alan Tudyk have joined the DC Comics-infused sitcom pilot as series regulars, TVLine has learned.

Christina Kirk (A to Z, Manhattan) has also been added to the cast, which — as reported earlier this week — will be led by High School Musical grad Vanessa Hudgens.

Written by A to Z writer-producer Ben Queen, the single-camera project centers on the exceedingly average employees at one of the worst insurance companies in America — with the twist being that it also takes place in the universe of DC Comics.

Pudi will play Teddy, best friend and co-worker to Hudgens’ Emily (Vanessa Hudgens). He spends his days creating time-wasting pranks as a way to make their office, the “least Super place on earth,” just a little less “unsuper.”

Tudyk, meanwhile, portrays Del, Emily’s new boss in the claims department. Del has just been promoted — not through any merit of his own, but because he’s the owner’s son. A self-proclaimed “rich, over-educated globetrotting wastrel,” Del is a power-mad disastrous dictator of a boss.

Lastly, Kirk is set for the role of Jackie, a massive superhero fan who works as Del’s assistant.

  1. Sam says:

This just became a Must-Watch show though i’m already starting to worry about the possible tiny ratings. (silly pessimist)

Though this could be the perfect pair partner for Superstore.

  2. Jeff hunter says:

Being the DC Fan that I am,I’ll be watching this-it’ll get picked up for sure!jeff

  3. I keep imagining “Working”, the DC sitcom.

  4. How do you make a comedy out of the destruction that takes place around superhero fights?

    • It’s interesting given the reaction to the destruction in MoS. Will the destruction in this show be on that scale, or more slapstick, like the taxi driver in Superman II whose front end cracked when he collided with Clark?

  5. e. says:

“Hudgens’ Emily (Vanessa Hudgens).” – probably can go one way or the other with that.

  6. Jerry says:

Alan Tudyk you traitor! How dare you abandon Disney! Couldn’t hold out for Marvel’s Damage Control series? :O

Or do you want a bigger role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe that taking a job on a Marvel TV show would preclude you from?

  7. c-mo says:

    I’m in!

  12. Elizabeth says:

Wasn’t sure about Hudgens as lead but Danny Pudi and Alan Tudrek in one show is AMAZEBALLS!! Now I hope that NBC gets rights to some good DC Superheroes.

  13. Jake says:

Not sure of the premise, but with Pudi and Tudyk I’ll give it a try.

  14. Joey Padron says:

Happy Danny will be back on TV!

  15. rinaex says:

This is one of the few new shows I’ve heard about that doesn’t sound completely terrible.

  16. GuyFiery says:

Sounds like they’re trying to usurp Marvel’s Damage Control.
