Once Upon a Time Captain Silver

TVLine Items: Once Adds Capt. Silver, Review's Final Season and More

Is Once Upon a Time readying a boat to Treasure Island?

The ABC fantasy series has cast Costas Mandylor (NCIS, the Saw movies) as Captain Silver, a pirate who has a history with Hook, ETOnline.com reports.

It has not been confirmed if Mandylor’s character — who makes his debut in a spring installment — is Captain Long John Silver, the villain from Robert Louis Stevenson’s Treasure Island novel.

Once Upon a Time resumes Season 5 with its 100th episode on March 6.

Ready for more of today’s newsy nuggets? Well…

* Comedy Central has picked up its Andy Daly starrer Review for a third and final season. Though an episode count for the abbreviated run has not been determined, it will likely be a minimum of three installments, THR reports.

* Caroline Rhea (Sabrina the Teenage Witch) will guest-star on the March 15 episode of The Grinder, playing the star of Fran of the House, a sitcom on which Dean appeared early in his career, per EW.com.

* Jimmy Kimmel has announced the lineup for his 11th annual After the Oscars special: Ben Affleck, Tracy Morgan, J.K. Simmons, Mike Tyson, Nathan Lane, Matthew Broderick, Henry Cavill and Jesse Eisenberg. The special will air live on Sunday, Feb. 28, after the late local news ET/CT (and at 10 pm PT) on ABC.

* Leading into its live broadcast of The Passion, Fox will air the all-new animated special Ice Age: The Great Egg-scapade on Sunday, March 20, at 7:30/6:30c.

Looking forward to Captain Silver and Hook backstory. What else we get from it.

  2. Denny says:

Damn! Treasure Island is one of my favourite books! I would love to see what the show has in store for Silver and Hook!

  3. Eric says:

Really bummed to hear about Review coming to an end, especially with its final run being “abbreviated”. It was consistently hilarious, and I would have loved for it to get another full season or two, but better than getting outright cancelled I guess! Andy Daly is awesome, he’ll go on to do more great things I’m sure.

  4. Steven says:

Costas has not aged well. He was so cute on Picket Fences.

  5. iHeart says:

I was about to say that Disney never covered Treasure Island, but then I remembered oh wait Treasure Planet

  6. fiberlicious says:

I just hope they don’t ruin it. The vast majority of the time, once the tension of the unrequited is lifted, shows go down the terlet in a big hurry.

  7. John Davis says:

    Review is soooooo funny.

Glad to see more Hook backstory and that too with Captain Silver of Treasure Planet (Treasure Island)
