Breaking Bad vet Anna Gunn is taking a walk on the lighter side, joining ABC’s single-camera comedy pilot Chunk & Bean, TVLine has learned.
The project, written by Ed Herro and Brian Donovan and executive-produced by How I Met Your Mother co-EP Dave Hemingson, centers on the unlikely friendship of two misfits, Chunk and Bean, who benefit from having two very different sets of parents living next door to each other.
Emmy-winner Gunn will play Connie Dawson, Chunk’s stern but (mostly) fair mother, a psychologist who works out of her home office. Connie loves Chunk and that love takes the form of constant monitoring of his food intake and prodding him to slim down. She wants him to be happy but she’s unaware that her efforts are having the opposite effect. Connie’s life motto is: “Rules are my way of hugging you closer.” Those same rules are her way of controlling her world. She’s so obsessed with her kids, her greatest fear is that she won’t prepare them sufficiently for the hardships of life.
The cast also includes Adam Rodriguez (CSI: Miami).
