24 Legacy Casting

24: Legacy Casts Its 'Teri Bauer'

Fox’s new chapter of 24 has cast The Messengers‘ Anna Diop as its day-saving hero’s wife.

Titled 24: Legacy, the 12-episode revival-boot centers on Eric Carter (The Walking Dead‘s Corey Hawkins), a military hero who encounters a troubled return to the U.S., compelling him to ask CTU for help in saving his life and stopping what potentially could be one of the largest-scale terror attacks on American soil.

Per our sister site Deadline, Diop will play a significant role as Eric’s wife Nicole.

In addition to her run as The Messengers’ Rose (the formerly comatose nurse who went about assembling the Angels of the Apocalypse), Diop’s TV credits include episodes of Quantico, Touch and Everybody Hates Chris, and the upcoming OWN series Greenleaf.

In other previously announced 24: Legacy casting, Homeland‘s Miranda Otto will play Rebecca Ingram, the smart and confident former head of CTU who is having second thoughts about her decision to vacate her post.

No, no, no. No way. Won’t even bother with this farce.

  2. sd says:

i wont watch because the lead is a black dude, and no this isnt racism, but its like making superman black

    • lrdslvrhnd says:

Um. Yeah. That’s totally racism. This isn’t like making Superman black. This is like making the guy who steps up when Superman is off on another planet black.
Y’know, like John Henry Irons did when Superman was dead. Oh, look, he was black.

    • David4 says:

I really hope you are just an immature troll and not a racist fool.

    • In the current comic books, the Superman of Earth 2 is black. In fact, there have been a considerable number of iterations of Superman from different worlds who are black, like the Superman of Earth-D. I know there was at least one more but I forget which Earth he hailed from. An Obama-type Superman created by Morrison in Final Crisis.

  3. Bruce Wayne says:

Terrible choice and lack of any Jack connection is likely to doom this “24” right from hour 1.

  4. Mr. Tran K says:

Annie Ilonzeh should have been a good fit to played Eric Carter’s wife.

  5. Delena1026 says:

So if she is 24 legacys Teri Bauer does that mean he’s gonna have a daughter too and that his wife is gonna die just like Teri did. I know she is just cast as his wife but they shouldn’t say the Teri Bauer of the show because she was murdered I’m the first season finale. So I’m just guessing that they may plan to kill her off in one way or another or give her a good storyline. But I am just predicting that she may not last long.

  6. lechatnoir says:

WOW! Basically NOBODY is interested in the fact that this lady is A- an actress B- This is a fictional role not reality , she is not playing Marguerite Thatcher . I can’t believe you all are so enraged simply because someone has a darker complexion. Where has this been specified that this fictional character should be exclusively w.hite ?

    • DL says:

Yeah, I don’t get it either. These are new characters. The whole point is NOT to have a Jack Bauer clone. If they’re just going to ape the original, the show won’t even have a chance at standing on its own two feet.

      • John j says:

It doesn’t stand a chance anyway. They never should have come out and said the new one will have little to no connection to the old.

        • Dysturbed says:

Sure they should have. Otherwise people would have immediately figured it out and complained that they were misled. That would be wrong, yet apparently being honest is wrong too.

  7. Viv says:

Anna’s beautiful & I love her accent on the angel show. She reminds me of Morena Baccarin — that whole “I have a really juicy secret…” Thing when they smirk & slant their eyes sideways. Same full lips too… Pretty!!

  8. carrabus says:

This is awesome. Still a little bummed they didn’t continue the series with KATE (Yvonne S), though. I thought the last season was totally setting that up. She had a messy past (husband committed suicide because of being falsely accused, and she didn’t believe them) and a strong connection with Bauer. Then at least there would be a connection. This starting over thing is less compelling.

  9. Murica! says:

Another pointless reboot with black instead of white characters.

  10. DJB says:

“24” without the Bauer Power is just not “24”….. I am, however, looking forward to Kiefer’s new show, “Designated Survivor”.

  11. iceblast says:

I think starting 24 again without Kiefer Sutherland is a difficult thing to begin with. But making the lead a black guy is going to make it harder. There seems to be a lot of force diversity going around. Diversity is find, but do it with new stories, not one’s that are already created. You’ll get less balking from it.

Maybe this guy is great, and he’s the best for the role. Would love to see Wesley Snipes as the lead, Chiwetel Ejiofor was great in Serenity. I guess a really well know actor, that you can see fitting the part before you see him.

  12. jazzyt2u says:

This show is not a remake. The guy’s name is not Jack Bauer. It’s about a man who is fighting crime with the help of CTU over the course of how many hours. So who cares what race the lead is if the original actor doesn’t want to do the show anymore…
