John Barrowman Reign

TVLine Items: Barrowman's Reign Role, Grease: Live Album Release and More

Well, Reign fans, this is awkward.

Mary will soon come face-to-face with the man responsible for Francis’ death, and he’ll be played by Arrow‘s John Barrowman.

According to, Barrowman will appear in the season’s penultimate episode as Munro, a dangerous and charismatic Scottish clan leader who harbors a grudge against the Queen of Scots. (Needless to say, the feeling is mutual, considering Munro cost Francis his life.)

Reign returns to The CW this spring.

  1. Eric says:

Weird Al will make a great CBB bandleader. Even Cudi, from whom I had no idea what to expect, was awesome. Here’s to hoping the show runs for years to come, it seems incapable of declining in quality.

  2. Wordsmith says:

I know Barrowman can do a great Scottish accent, but everyone on the show seems to speak with a generic British accent, regardless of their character’s nationality, so we probably won’t get to hear it.

    • Bee says:

Well, he’s technically Scottish, his parents are Scottish, and he got married in a kilt, so I think they may have to physically restrain him to stop him doing the accent.

    • Chuck says:

Barrowman does have a Scottish accent but he uses his American one when he’s acting or even doing appearances, so it will be interesting to see if he does use his actual speaking voice for the role — and it’s nice for The CW to let him appear on two different shows on the network!

      • Deb says:

Although he has a show on telly in the UK, a reality show called Small Animal Hospital, where he’s speaks exclusively with his Scottish accent.

  3. Wordsmith says:

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are amazing together, but it’s kind of weird that they seem to be a package deal these days. I remember they used to be pretty fun to watch separately, too…

  4. Courtney says:

If John does use his native Scottish accent, then this might actually get me to watch Reign! And for those who don’t know, John is Scottish by birth, American by law. If you aren’t sure what I mean, check out his two memoirs. They tell the story.

  5. ninamags says:

I love John in anything!!! Can’t wait for Reign to return.

  6. Blake says:

Barrowman’s Scottish accent is such a turn on!

  7. Ijola Fitts says:

Never watched Reign but now I HAVE to! Here’s hoping @Team_Barrowman uses his sexy real Scottish accent! #ENRGYZRBunny #Jophen…. it’s a ‘thing’ now!
