Rome & Juliet Sequel at ABC

Shonda Rhimes' Romeo & Juliet Sequel Drama Snags Formal ABC Pilot Order

The Romeo & Juliet sequel saga you forgot even existed has escaped death at ABC.

Shondaland’s Still Star-Crossed, a one-hour period drama based on Melinda Taub’s 2013 novel that chronicles the fallout from the legendary lovers’ deadly acts, has snagged a formal pilot order at the Alphabet network.

Heather Mitchell, who has worked on Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal, will write and executive-produce, with Shonda Rhimes and Betsy Beers attached as non-writing EPs.

Comments are monitored, so don’t go off topic, don’t frakkin’ curse and don’t bore us with how much your coworker’s sister-in-law makes per hour. Talk smart about TV!

Oops! Someone has wine on the brain: “if the pinot gets ordered to series.”

    • Z says:

Pinot would be better than this pilot. Shakespeare Shonda’s style, what a fantastic idea! I’m sure she will handle the material with her trademark tastefulness and elegance.

  2. Annie says:

Woot! I will, of course, be there watching.

  3. carrionne says:

Could be good if it’s done well. I prefer the sequel senario to another adaptation anyway.

  4. S says:

Honestly I can’t mentally handle anymore of Shonda’s cycle drama. Scandal feels like older episodes of Greys. Nothing feels fresh or original. I’ll take Blacklist or Orphan Black (new or reruns) anyday.

  5. MissEllys says:

Nothing to to see here. Even if it makes to series, it will just commit suicide

  6. mrmcgee says:

Didn’t Sons have something else on development, The Catch, our something like that?

  7. Rita Avalo says:

What ever Shonda does I will be watching.Good for ABC she has the Midas touch like Oprah❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

  8. Jennifer says:

Ia ABC going to be renamed “Shondaland”? The shows aren’t that good (IMO) in the first place.

  9. Toby says:

Love Shonda, but this sounds dreadfully boring.
