Netflix Premiere Dates 2016: OITNB, Kimmy Schmidt, Ashton Kutcher's Ranch and 8 Other Series

Prepare to cancel all of your weekend plans for the foreseeable future.

Netflix on Sunday announced the premiere dates for 11 original series, including the long-awaited returns of Orange Is the New Black and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, plus the debuts of shows like Ashton Kutcher’s The Ranch and Baz Luhrmann’s The Get Down.

Here’s what the streaming service has in store for us over the next few months:

Flaked, a comedy about a celebrated resident (Will Arnett) of Venice, Calif., who inadvertently falls for someone with whom his best friend is already in love.

The Ranch, a multi-camera comedy about a disgraced semi-pro football player (Kutcher) who moves into his brother’s (Danny Masterson) Colorado ranch.
Lost & Found Music Studios, which follows a group of musical teens struggling to find their sound — and their place in the business.

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt Season 2
Kong: King of the Apes, an animated twist on the classic King Kong story set in 2050.

Marseille, a drama about the no holds barred raced for mayor in the port city of Marseille, France.
Grace and Frankie Season 2

Word Party, a vocabulary building show for pre-schoolers from The Jim Henson Company.

Orange Is the New Black Season 4

Stranger Things, a supernatural drama starring Winona Ryder about a young boy whose mysterious disappearance captivates an entire town.

The Get Down, a 1970s-set musical drama from Baz Luhrmann about a group of South Bronx kids whose sound changed the world.

(Note: All of the above series arrive on Netflix at 12:01 am PT on their respective premiere dates.)

  5. A Fan of TV says:

Will be watching OINTB and Kimmy, and will check out Stranger Things. I’ll also have to check out the reunion of Kelso and Hyde, and probably wait for word of mouth and/or TVLine’s review on The Get Down.

  6. Phillip says:

Are we ever going to find out when Marco Polo returns?!?!

  7. Cm reed says:

    Will Longmire be coming back??

  8. Elissa says:

BLOODLINE. I need to know when it is back!!!!!

  9. Et al. says:

I would have loved some dates for Sense8, Bloodline, and Narcos as well as news on Arrested Development and a real Gilmore announcement.

Very excited for Kimmy Schmidt and still somewhat excited for House of Cards and OITNB.

  10. Cindy Griggs says:

What about “The Returned?” I had read that Netflix might be interested in doing that show.

  11. valeriel40 says:

  16. MomLyn Young says:

    What about Sense8????

  17. What about Bloodline or Peakie Blinders? I loved both of those shows.

  18. Dave says:

So there is not gonna be a season 2 of Between. That was the first show I watched completely on Netflix. smh.

    • rarefied says:

Several other shows haven’t been announced yet and the dates only go through August so maybe more announcements are coming.

      • anjunor says:

What Rarefied said: On January the 13th the canadian Network for “Between” announced the start of principal photography on the six new episodes. Last year they announced a startdate in May just in March. Production on the new episodes is slated to run through march. So there is still plenty of reason to hope for more “Between” in the summer or fall.

  19. David Burt says:

    Where the hell is Bojack?

  20. Orange Is the New Black and Stranger Things.

  21. Jake L. says:

  22. Mark says:

    Bring back lily hammer !

  23. Bloodline? Love that show…please do another season

  24. Lorelei says:

I’ve been waiting for Season 2 of “The Last Kingdom” … Are there any dates for this series soon?

  25. Denise says:

Is there any word on whether Netflix have granted Rita a fourth season? If so, when might it return?

    • anjunor says:

What is “Rita”? (I’m not from the US, so I can’t look that up on Netflix myself). “Rita Rocks” (with Nicole Sullivan)? That would have ended a couple years ago after 40 eps on Lifetime.

      • Denise says:

I’m not from US either, but it’s on International versions of Netflix (Australia included).

It’s a Danish show about a teacher, aired from 2012- March 2015 with the last season exclusively on Netflix. It’s probably easiest to look it up on Wikipedia.

Last I heard, Netflix hadn’t decided on a season 4 yet – and that was awhile ago.

It’s in Danish with English subtitles but still very well worth a watch.

  26. JosiahBartlet4President says:

Yay for Grace and Frankie! Can TV Line please spill some season 2 secrets? :)

  27. Courtney Dueck says:

I’m looking forward to watching Fuller House.

  28. anjunor says:

One minor correction on “(Note: All of the above series arrive on Netflix at 12:01 am PT on their respective premiere dates.)”: Per Deadline MARSEILLE will not go live at 12.01 a.m. “PT” but “CET” (aka the timezone of France, where the show is set) – so it will go online on “May the 4th on 15.01 PT” from the north american point of view.

  29. Bill says:

What about The Fall? Good show

    • Katie T says:

Filming has just started on the 3rd and final season. I’d presume it’ll be on bbc2 here in the UK around September at the earliest so sometime after that for the US

  30. MLPC says:

What about The Crown? I’ve got a trailer, it would be nice a premiere date

  31. Richard says:

No word yet on season 2 of Club De Cuervos? Sense 8?
