Tracy Morgan to Star in FX Comedy Pilot About Life After Prison

For Tracy Morgan and Jordan Peele, post-prison integration sounds… kind of hilarious, actually.

Morgan (30 Rock) will develop and star in an untitled comedy pilot for FX Networks about a man adjusting to the modern world after spending 15 years behind bars. “Now, a man whose only expertise is making grilled cheese with an iron must navigate a modern world of political correctness, internet, and self-driving cars,” reads the official description.

To sweeten the pot, Peele (Key & Peele) and John Carcieri (Eastbound & Down) will pen the comedy. Both writers will also serve as executive producers, along with Morgan, Eric Tannenbaum (Two and a Half Men) and Joel Zadak (Key & Peele).

“What an unbeatable combination — Tracy Morgan and Jordan Peele — two exceptional comics joining forces with a great team of writers and producers to create and produce this pilot for FX Networks,” says Nick Grad, President of Original Programming for FX Networks and FX Productions. “We’ve been committed to Tracy from the start and are thrilled that Jordan, John, Eric and Joel are joining him in developing this new project.”

    This one can’t miss!

  2. Cranky Carl says:

I don’t know how to feel about this. I still held out hope that he’d get back to that show he was working on with the It’s Always Sunny crew, but him working with Peele feel like a good fit, too.

  3. ScottJ says:

So basically it’s a male copy of Kimmy Schmidt which was also 15 years locked up. Although it wasn’t prison but may as well have been. And very strange for 2 very similar shows to both be developed by people from 30 Rock too.

  4. HAP says:

Morgan has never been funny. He’s one note. Peele could do better.

    Could be quite good

Sounds a good show. Excited for Tracy’s new show!
