The $100,000 Pyramid Reboot

The $100,000 Pyramid Rebooted at ABC, Michael Strahan to Host

ABC is reviving The $100,000 Pyramid for a 10-episode primetime run this summer, with Michael Strahan succeeding the late Dick Clark as host.

As noted by Vulture, which broke the news, this will mark the first time Pyramid will air as a weekly primetime series; previously, the franchise only ran in daytime, on cable or as an early-evening syndicated show.

Pyramid launched in 1973 — then titled The $10,000 Pyramid — and went on to spawn seven different versions. The most recent incarnation aired in 2012 in GSN.

ABC enjoyed great success last summer with another iconic game show, the Steve Harvey-hosted Celebrity Family Feud.

GSN’s version of Pyramid was horrible with Mike Richards as host who’s also the executive producer of both game shows on CBS: The Price is Right (way boring with Drew Carey as host) and Let’s Make a Deal (way better than The Price is Right). Wonder if they’re going to the same format with contestants teaming up with celebrities.

  3. i would’ve preferred another season of Celebrity Family Feud instead
& a full season at that not a few eps like the first one

  4. Kenny Jones says:

Bring back “password” with Steve Hggins {Jimmy Fallon`s announcer} as host, He would be GREAT

  5. Since it went from 10,000 to 100,000, shouldn’t it be up to 1,000,000 by now? lol

I mean, though!! The top prize has been at $100,000 since the mid ’80s (save for the 2012 GSN version, which only offered a top ante of $50,000), it’s time to freakin’ update!! IJS! Lol….

I am stoked. Pyramid was my second favorite game show back in the day. I really hope this does good and they can do a daytime daily show.

Mike Richards was horrible, it took what could have been a terrific format but ruined by GSN’s format (only using first names, repeat the rules at every winner’s circle).

Michael is good at Live, but this could be another feather in his cap.

Dick Clark’s corpse would be a better host.

Anything in regards to a contestant search?

  10. Richard Cranium says:

What I’m waiting for are some really older shows… such as “You Bet Your Life” . . .”What’s My Line” and “I’ve got a Secret” !!

What is it with ABC and their facination with Michael Strahan? It’s not like he doesn’t have enough to do already. He’s been doing “Live” (okay, he’s leaving that one in 2 weeks), NFL commentator (is that ABC? Seems like maybe it’s FOX), and GMA part time and is going full time with that (as an anchor? Really?) in September. Enough already. I like the guy but pu-leez. Enough already.

thank god its only 10 episodes, if they got a good hodt it could be a success, but not with that loser.
