NBC DC Comics Powerless

NBC Orders Powerless DC Comics- Based Comedy Pilot, Three Others

NBC on Thursday picked up four comedy pilots, including one set in the DC Comics universe.

Powerless, from Ben Queen (A to Z), is described as a single-camera workplace comedy “about the exceedingly average employees at an insurance company and their quest to find their own power” as they mop up after superheroes’ town-trashing clashes.

NBC’s other pilot pick-ups include Marlon, which is loosely based on Marlon Wayans’ life, starring the actor/comedian as an “inappropriate but loving father”; a single-cam comedy from 30 Rock/Mindy Project scribe Tracey Wigfield, about a clingy mother who interns at her daughter’s workplace; and one based on the life of 30 Rock/Parks and Rec writer-producer Matt Hubbard, about a guy who moves his family to his wife’s hometown.

  2. JC says:

Didn’t ABC have a Marvel based show with the same plot in development?

  3. J says:

Powerless seems like such a pointless series. A DC show without superheroes?!? It’s like a Fashion show with no fashions..haha

  4. StephonJS says:

another try at DC on NBC? smh just give it to CW, CBS or FOX. After NBC disrespected Constantine they dont deserve a DC show of any kind

    • No one gives it to them, that’s not how it works. NBC desired to purchase this show, from either the studio or production company behind it, and that’s how it’s getting done.

  5. Dean says:

Considering their track record with comedies I bet most of these don’t even make it to series.

    • MZ says:

Seinfeld, Friends, The office, Parks and Rec, Community, Cheers, Golden Girls, The Cosby Show, Frasier, Taxi, 3rd rock, 30 rock, scrubs… Thats a terrible track record of shows. Shall I continue?

  6. Luis says:

Wait, does Marlon Wayans owe Damon royalties for using “inappropriate but loving father” as the basis for a show?
