Enrico Colantoni iZombie

TVLine Items: iZombie's Veronica Mars Reunion, Big Bang's G-Ma and More

The producers of iZombie are here to make sure your Veronica Mars nostalgia never subsides.

Enrico Colantoni is the latest VM alum to join the CW dramedy (executive produced by VM‘s Rob Thomas and Diane Ruggiero), where he will recur as Lou Benedetto, a vice detective whose cases overlap with Liv’s personal and professional life.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, which first broke the news, Colantoni will appear in Episodes 14 and 17.

Switched at Birth star Ryan Lane will also visit the series, playing an actor on Liv’s favorite show, Zombie High, in the Jan. 12 midseason premiere.

Ready for more of today’s newsy nuggets? Well…

* Oscar nominee June Squibb will guest-star on a February episode of The Big Bang Theory as Sheldon’s much-discussed-but-never-seen meemaw, EW.com reports.

* Even though American Crime Story has yet to debut its first season, executive producer Ryan Murphy has revealed that Season 2 will focus on the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Per THR, the second go-round will follow six to eight people in an attempt to recount the tragedy from multiple perspectives.

* TV Land has handed a formal pilot order to Nobodies (fka Friends With Melissa), a comedy series exec-produced by Melissa McCarthy and husband Ben Falcone. The project stars Groundlings alums Hugh Davidson, Larry Dorf and Rachel Ramras, playing themselves, as they try desperately to land one of their famous friends for a feature script so that they, too, can rise to fame in Hollywood.

* ION Television has renewed its drama series Saving Hope for an 18-episode fifth season, which will begin production this spring.

wow MIke and Molly hasn’t ended and already McCarthy has already landed at Tvland

  2. Luis says:

I wondered whether we would ever see Sheldon’s “Meemaw” or whether she would remain a mentioned but unseen presence, like Vera Peterson on “Cheers”

  3. c-mo says:

June Squibb is a perfect choice for Shelly’s Meemaw!

I am a big fan of Enrico’s work (VM, Party Down, Galaxy Quest) and look forward to seeing him as part of a series again. :)

Wow. Ryan Murphy really doesn’t get it, does he? It’s called American Crime Story. Not American Disaster Story. Why not do another true life crime case? Sigh. What else can I expect from him?

    • Chris says:

Unless if they plan on arresting and bringing the hurricane to trial (which I would totally watch). But yeah, that sounds like a bad idea. Surely they can think of another case to do.

How about The Venture Bros season 6 premiering Jan 31 on Adult Swim? That DEFINITELY qualifies as a newsy nugget. Been since 2013 since the last season ended!

How is Hurricane Katrina a crime? Why wouldn’t he choose another famous case? Better yet work on making sure the first season is a hit and coming back with a strong second season for Scream Queens or even improving AHS. I’ve enjoyed Hotel at times but it has sooooo many issues. The plot and writing often feels disjointed. The main character being John Lowe and the show revolving so heavily around Wes Bentley/Chloe Sevigny was a mistake as they have been complete bores. And let’s not forget the disappointing underuse of superb actors like Matt Bomer, Angela Bassett and Sarah Paulson this season. People complained about Lady Gaga, but she hasn’t even been that bad and she’s the least of this season’s issues. Murphy just can’t devote time to anything at all jumping from one toy to the next like a kid and I know I will continue to let myself be sucked in because there is greatness to many of his shows but he’s so frustrating.

There were many crimes of negligence committed that led to many deaths. It’s possible. Read “Five Days at Memorial” to start.

    Recur!!!!! AWESOME!!!!
And Awesome about Saving Hope. I know it is a Supernatural backdrop but it is probably the best most realistic and well acted Hospital Show I see on television.
