Alexander Skarsgard Big Little Lies

True Blood's Alexander Skarsgard Joins HBO Limited Series Big Little Lies as Nicole Kidman's Husband

True Blood alum Alexander Skarsgard is putting down stakes at HBO again with a co-starring role opposite Oscar winner Nicole Kidman in the cabler’s star-studded limited series Big Little Lies, TVLine has learned.

David E. Kelley is penning the eight-episode adaptation of Liane Moriarty’s 2014 darkly comic novel about three three mothers (Kidman, Reese Witherspoon and Shailene Woodley) of kindergartners whose seemingly perfect lives unravel to the point of murder.

Skarsgard will play Perry Wright, devoted husband to Kidman’s Celeste.

Revenge vet James Tupper, meanwhile, has been cast as the ex-husband of Witherspoon’s Madeline.

The enviable ensemble also includes the previously announced Adam Scott (as Madeline’s current husband), Laura Dern (as an anti-bullying crusader) and  Zoë Kravitz (as the wife of Tupper’s character)

Production begins in January.

I am happy if they both are secondary characters . Nicole’s facial expressions are too difficult to read.her poker face is permanent for some reason.

    • MalTru says:

That will actually come in handy for this role, as the character is often described as having a vacant, far off look.

    • Lucy Tim says:

Ah, the silly, nasty Kidman haters making silly, nasty comments about her face. The same bullies again and again. Yeah, Kidman has no facial expressions, that’s why she just won the Evening Standard Theatre award for best actress for her great, critically-acclaimed performance in “Photograph 51″…

I may have to subscribe to HBO again! Sounds like a great cast.

  3. Steven says:

  4. BarbaraDarlin says:

    All things Alexander Skarsgard!

  5. Ian says:

So Nicole’s been cast with a husband that makes it seem like she’s trying to get away with playing mid-30’s.

  6. tattoorose40 says:

Absolutley great news. Alexander has been entirely too quiet since True Bliid wrapped.

  7. Leslie Davis says:

Can’t wait!! Looks good. They have played together before in a movie. Should really spice HBO up a bit!

  8. IMHO says:

Yay Alexander Skarsgard is back on HBO !

  9. Shelly says:

I am so excited, the book was utterly amazing. The way Laine Moriarty wove the characters together throughout the story was nothing short of genius and the plot twists are mind blowing. The cast is impressive I’m looking forward to seeing if the show can do the book justice.

This sounds very promising, mostly due to having David E. Kelley write the series…love his writing! It will be great to see Alex Skarsgard in something new, along with James Tupper. The female leads are a talented bunch. I’ll keep an eye out for this.
