Ratings: Barbara Walters' Picks Prove To Be 29% Less Fascinating

Barbara Walters’ presentation of the year’s Most Fascinating People this Thursday drew 6.2 million total viewers and a 1.0 demo rating, down 19 and 29 percent from the 2014 edition (which aired on a Sunday after a fresh Once Upon a Time).

Elsewhere in the ratings….

CBS | Pending adjustment due to NFL preemptions (in Tampa and St. Louis), The Big Bang Theory (17.4 mil/4.1) and Life in Pieces (11.2 mil/2.5) are currently eyeing best-since-premiere numbers, while Mom (9.6 mil/2.0), 2 Broke Girls (7.3 mil/1.7) and Elementary (6.4 mil/1.2) are looking at season highs.

NBC | Leading out of Christmas special reruns, President Obama’s hang with Running Wild With Bear Grylls did 3.5 mil and a 0.9, up 25 percent in audience but down a tenth in the demo from the series’ most recent outing (which led out of Ninja Warrior).

THE CW| This year’s Jingle Ball special (1.2 mil/0.4) dropped 33 percent.

  1. Mr. Tran K says:

Last night’s 2 Broke Girls did OK but the move to Wednesdays starting January 6th may help. Really hope Angel From Hell will flop before the premiere come January 7th.

  2. iHeart says:

yeah didn’t Barbara say that she wasn’t going to do this anymore after retiring? (deep down we all knew who was going to be #1, at least Donald Trump wasn’t #1)

    • Larc says:

Too bad Barbara couldn’t find somebody who really matters to be #1.

      • tvjunkie says:

Trump was easily number 1. Why? Being fascinating has nothing to do with being good or bad, sane or nuts, etc. He’s creating all sorts of havoc in Presidential race and driving it in directions no one could have ever expected. Anyone who doesn’t think this election cycle is fascinating, because of that is a lost cause. One could argue for Putin as well because he just keeps doing what he wants and doesn’t care what anyone, especially Obama, thinks. It’s quite fascinating watching the rest of the world follow Obama’s lead and let him get away with it. You could also argue for Obama, because it’s quite fascinating watching a sitting US president give so much support to terrorists trying to harm this country through a combination of incompetence and inaction. Any of those 3 would be better than some dude who simply had cosmetic surgery. No wonder nobody watched.

I agree. I turned off after I found out it was Jenner (yuck). Cooper was number 1 to me.

    • mrsfoxxe says:

She retired, needs to stay retired.

  3. Steve says:

in 2013 and 2014, Barbra Walters declared her Most Fascinating People as her last one, then she pops up with one in 2015. Maybe viewers just assumed she was done with them, I know only new about it when I saw it on tvline. I assumed Walters was done with them.

  4. Elements says:

Tracey Morgan? Ronda Rousey? Kind of interesting. But Donald Trump and Amy Schumer? Not even worth a yawn. Barbara Walters’ has had better and more riveting guests in the past.

    • Larc says:

Maybe Barbara had to take who she could get. I could imagine truly interesting people being too busy or otherwise having their reasons to turn her down.

    • tvjunkie says:

You don’t think watching a Presidential election get twisted around every which way because of Trump fascinating? It boggles the mind how stupid liberals are thinking that fascinating means the same thing as good/positive when the 2 have nothing to do with each other. It’s not called the best/most righteous/positive influence person of the year for a reason.

  5. mrsfoxxe says:

Barbara retired! She needs to stay retired & shut up!

  6. mrsfoxxe says:

Barbara retired! She needs to stay retired!

  7. Buck says:

I think we have all had our fill of Bruce Jenner in drag and Donald Trump’s BS.

  8. ABC bring Walturds out,m dust her off and she does her thing. Her legendary status being the first news woman etc….. is undeniably still profitable to ABC despite being old and senile.
