Vin Diesel Riddick TV Series

Vin Diesel Developing Riddick TV Series

Vin Diesel is adding another chapter to The Chronicles of Riddick.

The action star will develop a TV series for Universal Television described as a “complement” to his highly popular Riddick sci-fi film franchise, the production company announced Wednesday.

Diesel played Riddick, a dangerous criminal-turned-unlikely savior, in 2000’s Pitch Black and its sequels The Chronicles of Riddick and Riddick.

In November, the action star hinted that his One Race production company was working on Merc City, a Riddick spinoff that centers on the bounty hunters and mercenaries of the Riddick universe.

No word yet on whether Diesel would appear in the potential series.

The drama is part of a multi-year, first-look production deal Diesel inked with Universal.

I’m starting to wonder whether he spent too much money, his ideas/projects getting increasingly desperate looking.Like Snipes when he got in tax trouble.

  2. Riddick Fan says:

Ooooo! Wonderful. I wasn’t a huge fan of the way they used Katee Sachoff in the newest one, so hopefully the series will do better with their female characters. But I’m excited nonetheless. Big Riddick fan.

    Sounds riddickulous.

Love your comments adisory statement. I’ll try not to bore. For it’s time Pitch Black was an amazing feat of a film. Somewhat critically acclaimed but it quickly grew a cult following. The cinematography alone was breathtaking, added to that the world that the director created is completly immersive. It makes total sense that Desiel would look to develop this. It’s great mail box money. Yes I know all of the actors (male and female) turned TV series Executive Producer types love to say they’re actually active as a producer, giving creative input and…
AND that’s just it, what is the and. That’s the point, those actors just lend their name and get a check. It’s only that simple. Sure there are those actors that actually do producing work but most don’t and don’t know how. Regardless of that there are a lot of great Tv shows that are star driven with more than a few actors listed in a producer capacity.
If they could have more of the feel of Pitch Black than Riddick. Hopfully Diesel would be in a lot of the first season and hopfully he won’t get booked for a big film or else we’ll never see him.

  6. I vote for a Vaako series with Karl Urban. Bring on the Necromongers!

  7. Bark Star says:

Why oh why ! He and Twohy already ruined the legacy of the brilliant Pitch Black by doing thsoe two terrible sequels, completely compromising and reducing the character of Riddick to a generic wannabe badass. Now they want to defecate on it some more with a TV series ? Seriously ?

  8. Z says:

Please Jesus spear us from more bad fantasy action movies.

  9. Jim says:

The last two Riddick movies completely underwhelmed at the box office. Probably not enough of a following to carry a Riddick TV show, let alone one about the mercs. No one watched those movies to see the mercs. Sounds like yet another studio who is completely out of ideas.

I cannot wait. I love the Riddick trilogy and this has the potential to be awesome. I can already picture it sort of Mortal kombst conquest setting with some cheap CGI. I can already see it. I am so excited :D
