TVLine Items: Nip/Tuck Vet Is Glinda, Red Mars Lands Series Order and More

The next time NBC travels down the Yellow Brick Road, Joely Richardson will lead the way.

The Nip/Tuck alumna has boarded Emerald City, the Peacock Net’s upcoming reimagining of the Wizard of Oz universe.

According to TVInsider, Richardson will play Glinda the Good Witch in the drama, which reinvents Oz as a mystical land of competing kingdoms, lethal warriors, dark magic and a bloody battle for supremacy.

Other Emerald City cast members include Vincent D’Onofrio (Marvel’s Daredevil) as the Wizard and Adria Arjona (True Detective) as Dorothy.

* Spike TV has given a 10-episode, straight-to-series order to Red Mars, a scripted drama based on Kim Stanley Robinson’s trilogy of novels. Set to debut in January 2017, the series centers on the first settlers charged with terraforming a mysterious planet, all of whom have competed to be a part of the mission.

* Amazon Prime has introduced the Streaming Partners Program, through which members can pay $8.99 a month to see programs from Showtime, Starz and other premium services.

* Ahead of its Feb. 15 debut on Hulu, the upcoming James Franco drama 11.22.63 will premiere in the Special Events section of the 2016 Sundance Film Festival.

* PlayStation has unveiled the first trailer for Powers‘ second season. Press PLAY below for a teaser of the comic book-based series, which returns in 2016:

    Red Mars = Terra Nova (Fox)

      Terra Nova was a kids show designed for the 8PM hour. The Mars series is decidedly adult. Terra Nova was pretty shaky on plot and execution; Red Mars was an award winning novel – one of the best in a long time. There is no comparison.
