Jason Momoa Frontier

Game of Thrones Star Jason Momoa's Action Series Ordered at Netflix

Game of Thrones‘ Jason Momoa is embarking on a fur-ocious new Frontier at Netflix.

The streaming giant has handed a six-episode series order to a Momoa-fronted action-adventure drama that follows the chaotic and violent struggle to control wealth and power in the North American fur trade in the late 18th century.

San Andreas helmer Brad Peyton is on board to direct. Rob Blackie (Republic of Doyle) and Peter Blackie (Majumder Manor) are the co-creators of the project, which will be told from multiple perspectives and set “in a world where business negotiations might be resolved with close-quarter hatchet fights, and where delicate relations between Native tribes and Europeans can spark bloody conflicts.”

The cast also includes Alun Armstrong (Braveheart), Landon Liboiron (Hemlock Grove), Zoe Boyle (Downton Abbey), Allan Hawco (The Book of Negroes) and Canadian newcomer Jessica Matten.

Frontier is slated to premiere in 2016.

    Yummy. That’s it, just yummy.

  2. Jason Stoesz says:

Netflix has joined HBO in the ELITE television level. Neither seems capable of making a bad show. Those two have set the bar so high. Comedy, drama and everything in-between. I have zero interest in a show about the fur trade but because it’s on Netflix I just assume it will be good and worth checking out. They’ve earned that much from me.

but this is not a netflix show. it’s a cheap canadian show that netflix acquired, like the really bad Between.

    • Joey says:

Both HBO and Netflix have bad shows. It’s just that you aren’t watching them. Because they’re bad.

…Or perhaps you do, and you just don’t realize how bad they are. :P

  3. msstargate says:

Jason Momoa spent 4 seasons on Stargate Atlantis. Why is he always called the Game of Thrones Star where he spent 1 season.

    • johnhelvete says:

Probably the same reason Bradley James of Merlin had his credit for Homeland listed when he was cast in iZombie and Damien even though he was only in one episode of Homeland. GOT and Homeland are very well known shows currently on the air.

  4. Ian says:

Stargate Atlantis shouldnt have been cancelled. The Red Road shouldnt have been cancelled. Jason Momoa is one of the hottest men in the world. All facts.

    • Annie says:

SGA went down hill when they decided to get rid of Weir…so the series kinda ends for me after season 3 anyways. Such a stupid decision to get rid of her.
SG1 shouldn’t have been cancelled. They were just getting started with the Ori arch and the new team was just getting comfy and they’d just found their post-RDA groove

  5. Annie says:

Well gee if this very topic isn’t the focus of my graduate seminar right now. Mamoa & a cool historical topic, I’m there

He’s here in Newfoundland now filming!

  7. Sorry not interested, never liked westerns or shows centered back in that time period! In fact I don’t really care too much for any show set back in a time when woman didn’t even have the right to wear a pair of pants, much less vote! At least not in less its something weird or scary like Penny Dreadful, which I love! So even though I like Jason Momoa, I doubt I will be watching this! Though it would be more likely then that stupid Fuller House that Netflix is forcing us to pay for!

  8. Will he take his shirt off.?
