Wicked City Cancelled

Wicked City Cancelled at ABC

Looks like Kent and Betty’s murderous reign is coming to an end sooner than expected.

ABC has pulled the remaining episodes of its serial killer drama Wicked City from the lineup, the network announced Friday, making the serial thriller fall’s first official cancellation.

Production on the series will end after Episode 8, three installments shy of the series’ original 11-episode order.

This Tuesday’s episode of the drama drew just 1.7 million total viewers and a 0.4 demo rating, dropping 29 and 43 percent from last week.

And now my debate begins on whether to watch episodes 2 and 3 now (since I actually liked the pilot) or wait to see if they put the remaining eps on in the summer or online later.

  2. webly3 says:

Production on the series will end after Episode 8, three installments shy of the series’ original 13-episode order. (Nice math :) )

  3. MeowMeow says:

This show never really fit on ABC anyway. It was good, a little boring, perhaps due to network restrictions??? – just wrong network. Hopefully it finds a new life elsewhere, but kudos to Ed + Erika, they were a joy to watch.

  4. All I have to say is BRING BACK FOREVER!

  5. wrstlgirl says:

I have 2 & 3 on mine too. I’ll probably watch just for the hell of it :-)

  6. zac says:

It had everything going against it even before it aired. Not even surprised. A lot of critics were saying that why they always target women with serial killer shows like this.

  7. Mary says:

Oh thank God. I thought the premise was horrible.

    • Saundra Wade says:

Except it happened in REAL life with Paul Homulka and his girlfriend turned wife. She even lured her OWN sister into it, and participated in her death. In Canada….she spent 7 years in prison and was released….he got life

      • Nikki says:

This show was based on actual events. The sunset strip killers Doug Clark & Carol Bundy. They were equally as sick as the Barbie & ken murders. Although I don’t think that participating in the rape & murder of your own little sister is the most ,*%#^> up thing I have ever heard! At least Carol owned up to her part in the murders… “Barbie” got to go on & live the sweet life in Cancun married w/children:(

      • Lisa Hazelton says:

FYI, it’s Paul Bernardo and Karla Homolka.

  8. Carol says:

They never should have cancelled Forever. They need to bring it back ASAP!!

  9. Mr. Tran K says:

About time they finally have the first new show of the Fall TV season to get canceled…or is it?

  10. Mr. Tran K says:

With Wicked City as the first new show of the Fall TV season to get canceled (thank goodness), wonder if Castle, Quantico or any other drama series should fill the void in the 10 pm Tuesday night time slot for ABC which has always been a “black hole” for the alphabet network in years. Fact: NYPD Blue was a huge hit in that time slot back in the 1993-94 TV season.

  11. Lorna says:

It was kind of slow but come on let the season air. Ahole broadcasting company.

    • b_snapp says:

I completely agree!!! It did start slow but come on how many other shows start off slow too. I was already sucked in after just the first episode an so much happened already, yea some parts were tacky but I was ready to watch all episodes all seasons and everything! I was curious how they were going to keep it going without the detectives finding Kent and Betty. I knew before the first episode aired that this was going to be my new show, I haven’t been dedicated to watching a tv show since Sons of Anarchy! Total let down ABC, being Wicked City back! I mean come on it’s definitely better than Shark Tank reruns, after all there’s plenty of other channels already playing those reruns! I

      • Eric D. says:

I’m in agreement with you guys. My cousin and I have been watching it, and liking it a lot, I’m really caught off guard by the cancellation, because it’s actually a good show. There’s been so much crap on this fall. I’ll have to watch and see when and where those additional episodes pop up. It would be great if someone else wanted to have a go at the series.

      • Tina says:

I am pissed it is cancelled. Loved it so much

      • Shelly says:

        Amen to that

  12. Carla Krae says:

Damn. It needs to be on cable, honestly. This isn’t a free network kind of show.

    • b_snapp says:

I can agree with that, I don’t care what channel it’s on to be absolutely honest though! Lol, just bring it back please! It would have been enter suited for FX or another network similar to that.

  13. Paco says:

To the surprise of absolutely no one…

  14. alicia says:

I think the show should be given. fair run it is unusual storey line like any new show its always rated by scale . I think they should either move it around another night week That’s the challenges of a new Series I like to see it stay .

  15. Mary Spiegel says:

What th hell, ABC? Only 2 episodes have aired and you cancel it?
    That is unforgivable!

  16. Boy, was sure a good call to cancel Forever and replace it with a show that didn’t even last as long. Good move ABC

    • Michelle says:

Yea. And u seem to be the only one to be saying that. If u hated it soooo much why are you even on this comment area Hun???? Please. Seriously. Get a grip No offense of course.

  17. Grace M says:

Well I guess no one was interested. There’s only so much TV a person can watch.

  18. J says:

I love that show . I was excited to see how it all turns out. I cant beleive this!

  19. danoregon says:

No inside info, but judging by the first episodes, at some point at least one of Sisto’s loved ones would have been killed by kent, something would go down between his drug dealing girlfriend and his partner and Kent would be cornered and give some speech at the end (I’m guessing at some scenic LA locale like Griffith Observatory) and then probably get shot or knifed by betty who would then kill herself. Roll credits.

  20. Darlene Peterson says:

I liked that show. First you canceled one of my favorite shows Revenge. What will it be next Scandal or Quantico?

    • David says:

My money would be on CASTLE getting the boot next. The new producers have destroyed the show … and there was no reason to do it to begin with!

Scandal and Quantico are top shows for ABC.

  21. Christy says:

Oh hey look. The thing you replaced Forever with has failed. Go ABC.
This just proves again that you shouldn’t have cancelled Forever.
    PS. Bring back Forever.

    • Mac says:

Forever was a failure. No matter how hard you try, ABC is not going to bring it back.

    • Joei B says:

ABC already passed on Forever when they cancelled it. Other networks have sadly passed on it as well. Warner Bros. has stopped shopping it around. Even Matt Miller the creator has said that they haven’t been able to find another home for it. It’s not going to happen. Forever’s gone. Let it go!

    • drhenning says:

I loved Forever but everyone has moved on… too bad..

  22. David says:

Why did it take so long? This show never should have been aired on ABC to begin with. BAD. BAD. BAD. Forever or Body of Proof maybe should have been renewed instead of this horrible show even given a time slot!

  23. Annie says:

Forever isn’t looking too bad now is it ABC. Seriously, bring it back.

  24. Chloe says:

I had it on my list to watch on OnDemand, but hadn’t gotten to it yet. Guess there’s no point now.

    • Joei B says:

I loved Forever but its ratings were horrible. Alana de la Garza is in a new show – actually 2 and there is no way she can do it. So let it go!

  25. Julie says:

I really enjoyed it and hate to see it go!

  26. Sally says:

I’m so disappointed. I’ve been trying to find a new favorite show since The Following went off the air and this was it for me. I love Wicked City. So bummed out:(

    • b_snapp says:

I’m in the exact same with you! Finally I found a show that I couldn’t wait for it to air, I started watching and was so happy I had a new show. I haven’t watched anything religiously since Sons of Anarchy!!! I think I give up :( I hope FX or any other better suited network picks up Wicked City! Please please!!!

  27. Angel says:

Im mad cause it was a cool show.I hate tv literally I dont like much (my kid comes 1st) but I liked this one and even sat & watched the whole show and also had a Wicked City discussion afterwards. So what it dropped viewers it didnt drop all viewers.Dont quit Wicked City its a rockin show.

  28. Meghan says:

Ugh. I had a feeling this show wouldn’t last long. I really liked the pilot but was afraid to get invested. Hopefully they air the remaining episodes on demand

  29. Louie says:

I call bs on this. Just the sound track alone drew me to the show. Then the nostalgia of the 80’s was fantastic. So what’s next are they pulling all other crime shows off?

  30. dayana says:

Omg nooooo! I love it so far! I look forward to seeing it every week since it started. 😢😢😢

  31. Nancy says:

My family found this show very unique, one of the better shows this season. We even joked don’t get to involved or they will just cancel it

  32. Amanda says:

Very sad about this. I love the show. This sucks

  33. nicola haith says:

This is an outrage!!! This show is awesome and different and was great to see Ed Westwick back on our screens. People probably just don’t get a good show when it’s right there….Instead they prefer stupid reality shows with geordies or Essex bimbos or watching someone eat a kangaroo bollock! ABC are useless…Every good show they get they cancel!!!!!

  34. Christy says:

I’ve enjoyed this show a lot so far and I RARELY watch TV, this sucks! My only question was how long they were going to be able to drag it out before Kent gets caught. Still, I loved the chemistry between Kent & Betty, which is a lil f’d up. It’s just starting to get good!

  35. Neyney says:

How about sel this show to FX or another channel that can work it. ABC is too vanilla for this .

  36. Amanda says:

They need to take Hulu viewers info consideration and DVR/TiVo watchers. I hardly ever watch anything live anymore. I record it or watch it on Hulu. This show was growing on me. I want to see more!

  37. Amanda says:

I need to take Hulu viewers into consideration. They also need to consider people who recorded on DVR or TiVo and watch later. I have been following this show on Hulu. I hardly ever watch anything live anymore. This show was growing on me. I want to see more!

  38. Jolene says:

I really enjoyed this show. It’s different, has great actors, and had me wanting more!!! Put it on Netflix Please!!

  39. Brandy says:

I’m starting to get upset with ABC. I LOVE many of their shows but they also pull and cancel many that I fall in love with…For example Body of Proof, Forever, and now Wicked City. I understand why they do it though, what’s in it for them if they aren’t making a Buck out if it? But seriously whats next? Grey HTGAWM?!

    • Take it to HBO or some other private channel where kids can’t watch. This show is very interesting from the crime aspect, but it is pure porno in large part.

      • Tennisnsun says:

I totally agree. I figured it wouldn’t last long because of the porno vibe but I loved it. Parents probably complained along with everyone in the midwest!

  40. Fawn says:

What the heck abc?? I was getting into it too, I liked all the music they played.. :(

  41. Marie Claire says:

Cancelled already? This is rediculous. I’m hoping that Netflix or Hulu picks it up. Ed Westwick is fantastic and we haven’t had a chance for the show to develop fully! I’m disappointed to say the least.

  42. Rebecca says:

I am just horrified to hear this news! I so love the actors and this show! I can’t understand why people don’t want to watch it other than due to all the violence going on in the world and sick people! However, at the end of the day its just a show like any other! Look at American Horror Story’s series’s of shows and their latest: Hotel…I love those as well but they are way more graphic than Wicked City! Just saying! Wicked City just needs to move to another channel maybe and come back for future seasons! The Charlie Manson series was allowed and it had some graphic things on it! I enjoyed it to by the way! I am a Christian but i love watching horror doesnt make me a bad person!

  43. Marguerite Spencer says:

Give the show a REAL chance. This show has is on the edge of our seats every episode and the costumes and music bring back some amazing memories. Everything about this show is amazing, the suspense, sex, love, deciept, and drama make the show! Please safe the show’nnn

  44. Natalie says:

Why fork out all of that money to start a series if abc is just gonna cancel it? I will no longer watch any shows on abc because of the fact they keep doing this. Such a waste of time. But I will say my husband and I loved the show! The stupidest show abc ever launched was the show “slapped”. At least “wicked city” had a good storyline to it! Good luck abc, you are slowly losing viewers because of cancelling shows all of the time.

  45. CHANTELLE says:

Was just getting into it Cast is great . Sorry to hear it . Guess if its not zombies the public won’t watch . Oh well

  46. Clarissa Sanchez says:

This was a pretty good show I actually really liked it because it reminded me some what of AHS and the actors were really great as well as the story. I’m pissed that it is canceled they could have at least played all 11 episodes why leave me hanging at 8 !

  47. Christy says:

Oh, boo. I really liked this show. I hope most of the cast finds something for next season, I was really enjoying them.

Can the showrunners or writers at least tell us what the plan was for the rest of the season? Please? :)

  48. christopher bee says:

I´ve enjoyed the whole production but truely spoken, it should´ve been on Netflix or HBO etc.
Too dark and artsy for the common american folk who thinks a Soderbergh concept could only be like the Ocean 11 films.

  49. Rye says:

I seriously think this has more to do with…. Now a days most people don’t have cable to watch such series. We are All so internet savvy most of us don’t cave to a heinous monthly installment bill on something so trivial, that we can get for free or wait and buy the box installment. It’s not in-popular but most of us don’t have learned we don’t have to comply to over priced media satisfaction anymore. New viewer judging so should be made on All shows. By the by… I wanted to watch this show Very Much but don’t do cable. Bet it’s the Best!!

  50. Heaven says:

No!! You can’t do this!! I love this show!!! Please keep on with it!!
