Fox Eyes Reality Dance Competition Featuring Average Joe/Jane Couples

So you think you and your significant other can dance?

Fox is developing a reality competition series featuring non-celebrity couples performing challenging choreographed routines.

Produced by FremantleMedia North America (American Idol, America’s Got Talent) and Five Six Seven, Inc., the prospective series hails from creators Stijn Bakkers (The Voice) and Fremantle’s Toby Gorman.

According to the network, the currently untitled project will “highlight the lives of real-life couples who, each week, will participate in intensive training, rehearsals and live performances, until one couple is crowned the winner.”

The latest twist in the dance-competition genre comes on the heels of Fox announcing last spring that its reality juggernaut American Idol would leave the air after its upcoming 15th season. What’s more, Fox has yet to announce a renewal (or a cancellation), for its summer staple So You Think You Can Dance.
