American Horror Story Video: Why Hotel 'Feels Like Season 1' All Over Again

It sounds like American Horror Story is really getting back to its roots with Hotel.

The FX anthology’s fifth season, premiering Oct. 7 at 10/9c, promises to be as “twisted” as Season 1’s Murder House, returning star Denis O’Hare told TVLine on the Emmys red carpet Sunday.

“The theme is different, but also the feeling on the set is different,” O’Hare explained. “But I think it’s going to be really scary. It feels like Season 1 in many ways … and I think it’s because we’re back in LA. You can’t help it!”

O’Hare’s latest AHS character, a cross-dressing bar owner named “Liz Taylor,” is easily his most outlandish yet, so this next anecdote probably shouldn’t have caught us by surprise:

“I actually had to try on one of Jessica Lange’s costumes from Coven that she didn’t wear… and it fit!” he told us. “I was very happy.”

Hit PLAY on the video above for more of O’Hare’s thoughts on Hotel, including the Lady Gaga of it all, then drop a comment: What’s getting you pumped for AHS‘ return?

I’d rather the new season be more like Asylum, which had better, tighter plotting, more complete story and character arcs and overall the most solid writing, directing and acting of the series so far. Murder House was simply not that satisfying, even though I like the ideas of it a lot it just seems to fall apart about halfway through.
