Bloodline Season 2: Birdman Actress Joins Cast as New Series Regular

Danny Rayburn, what have you wrought now?!

English actress Andrea Riseborough (Birdman, W.E.) is joining Bloodline Season 2 as yet another person with ties to Ben Mendelsohn’s late black sheep, TVLine has learned exclusively.

The actress will play the series-regular role of Evangeline, a street-wise and unpredictable woman from Danny Rayburn’s past who has some unfinished business with the Rayburn Family.

Riseborough joins fellow Season 2 newbie John Leguizamo, whose character, Ozzy Delvecchio, also shares a sordid history with Danny.

Last month at the Television Critics Association summer press tour, Glenn Kessler confirmed that Emmy-nominee Mendolsohn would be back in Season 2 as a full-fledged regular despite Danny’s murder in the Season 1 finale. “There’s a very important story that we’re interested in telling that includes [Danny],” he explained. “We’re going to learn more about Danny’s effect on the family and more about his past, and also what his effects are in the present day.”

“Andrea is an actress of dazzling versatility, wit and intelligence — and we’re incredibly excited to have her join our cast for Season 2,” said EPs Todd A. Kessler, Glenn Kessler and Daniel Zelman in a joint statement to TVLine.

Bloodline Season 2 is slated to be released on Netflix during the first half of 2016.

That is so true! Andrea Riseborough is one of the best actresses out there, and she is so criminally underused. She’s a chameleon actor but also somehow individually charismatic presence, an extremely rare combination, because most of the successful actors are either former or the latter. I hope she’ll be getting more and more work. And now I’m more excited to see the second season.

Woah, that’s a really good get. She’s a fierce talent.

I assume she’s the mother of his son, the one who showed up at the end of the finale?

For the love that is all holy, if you haven’t seen this show or know people who haven’t, get them going on this ASAP. This show is MUST SEE! I’ve gotten about half a dozen converts to it…

Hurry up and film Season 2!!!! Ive watched Season 1 twice – totally obsessed with this show and Ben Mendelsohn. Fantastic acting and storyline – ending left me very emotional for a day or two!

  6. Amanda says:

She’s a great actress and another great addition!!! I did wonder if she’s the mother of Danny’s son but then realized in real life she’s only 33 and Danny’s son is about 15, which would’ve made her character 18 when he was born. Unless she’s playing older I can easily see her playing Danny’s daughter as not only does her eyes look similar to Ben’s but when she has red hair she looks a lot like a young Sissy Spacek.

Love the show, but can we focus on someone besides dead Danny?
