Castle Deleted Scene: Who Was Rick's (Expensive) Mystery Dinner Date?

Remember last fall, when Castle‘s titular mystery writer became the mystery, resurfacing several months after his almost-wedding, and with partial amnesia?

Beckett & Co. promptly exhausted NYPD resources to investigate the rather personal matter of Castle’s vanishing — and with that came a cost, as revealed in the above deleted scene from the Castle: The Complete Seventh Season DVD set, hitting streets Sept. 1.

Also featured on the DVD set is the “uncut” version of Rick’s Raging Heat webmercial, the “Definition of Love” music video that Ryan and Esposito created for Castle and Beckett, bloopers and more.

ABC’s Castle Season 8, meanwhile, debuts Monday, Sept. 21 at 10/9c.

  1. Gaby says:

No wonder why it was deleted. Why did they even bother with releasing it now? Boring scene that didn’t add anything to the episode. Ugh.

    • Matt Webb Mitovich says:

I found it amusing, plus it added a nice detail — that Rick had to reimburse the NYPD, and in fact was handed an itemized bill LOL! That’s the kind of nit that Internetters luhrve to pick.

  2. Alex says:

I would have loved to see this in Montreal, I know it was meant to be “funny” but Castle kissing Gates was incredibly rude and disrespectful to Gates and Beckett. And the fact that neither of them reacted after that was ridiculous, so this would have made it a little better. (Although this kiss was still a stupid idea)

  3. Alyssa says:

They should’ve put this scene in that episode it would have been perfect!!!!

  4. Sebastian says:

    What’s a webmercial?

  5. Debbie says:

I thought the deleted scene was very funny!

  6. Alex says:

I don’t really get what is the point of these deleting scenes ? If they’re good we’re frustrated because it wasn’t in the episode so it’s not really a part of it (the one from Veritas, I didn’t really liked the Always one but a lot of people did …) and if they don’t have anything special well it’s kind of useless.

  7. Katy Thompson says:

AND he can’t even say the name of the restaurant correctly!! Le Bernardin

  8. tv fan says:

that was kinda cool. and a ha ha ha ha moment. I like the extras……anyway thanks for sharing with us Matt (and others). YOu know how to treat us……

  9. Lisa Price says:

too bad he couldn’t pronounce Eric Ripert’s restaurant name properly

  10. lame says:

One of the rags made the supposition that Nathan Fillion is pursuing the roll of Booster Gold so this will be his last season on Csdtlr. They failed to mention no one is actively looking to bring that character to any screen large or small.

  11. John NYC says:

The handcuffs were looped through the plastic ties. The ties were what he was bound with, the cuffs connected the chair to the plastic ties. So were the plastic ties to fail he’d be free.
