Lion Guard Renewed

Disney Channel's Lion King Sequel Casts Rob Lowe and Gabrielle Union, Brings Back James Earl Jones

James Earl Jones will once again voice the late lion king Mufasa in The Lion Guard: Return of the Roar, an original movie airing on Disney Channel this November and setting the stage for the upcoming Disney Channel/Disney Junior series The Lion Guard.

Similarly, The Lion King‘s Ernie Sabella will reprise the voice of Pumbaa, while new castings include Rob Lowe (Parks and Recreation) as Simba, Gabrielle Union (Being Mary Jane) as Nala and Max Charles (The Neighbors) as their second-born cub Kion.

The movie follows Kion as he assumes the role of leader of the Lion Guard, a team of animals tasked with preserving the Pride Lands. Joshua Rush voices Kion’s best bud Bunga, Atticus Shaffer (The Middle) is an intellectual egret named Ono, Diamond White is the cheetah Fuli and Dusan Brown voices Beshte the hippo.

Additional voice cast members include Eden Reigel (All My Children), Sarah Hyland (Modern Family), Greg Ellis (Star Wars Rebels), Khary Payton (Teen Titans) as Rafiki and Kevin Schon (The Lion King’s Timon and Pumbaa) as Timon.

The series The Lion Guard will premiere on Disney Channel and Disney Junior channels worldwide in early 2016.

A sneak peek of the November movie is embedded below, while a special preview will be presented at Disney’s D23 Expo in Anaheim, Calif. on Sunday, Aug. 16.

whoa this looks kind of good, so the Hyenas are new residing in the Outlands since all of Scar’s followers were welcomed back into the pride lands at the end of LK2.

So is Nathan Lane not returning as Timon?

I hope Kiara and Kovu show up in this show. Lion King II is one of the few good sequels. It would honestly make sense for this Kion kid to be their son instead of Kiara being his adult older sister.

I really want them to include Kovu and Vitani too that’s all I want because if kiara is in it as the older sister and future queen it would make sense if she had her king next to her side and having one of his family members still alive.
