Coach Calls Back Pam Stone as Dauber's Wife (!) Judy

Another Coach vet is being summoned from the sidelines for NBC’s upcoming revival series.

Pam Stone — better known as Judy Watkins-Dybinski, the ladies’ basketball coach who often found herself at odds with Hayden (Craig T. Nelson) during the original series’ nine-season run — will recur when the sitcom returns in 2016, TVLine has learned exclusively.

Judy and now-husband Dauber (Bill Fagerbakke) have a 4-year-old daughter named Addison, who has the height, reflexes and coordination of a natural-born athlete. In fact, Hayden is apparently envious that his own grandson Cody — the son of Andrew Ridings’ Tim — doesn’t possess more of Addison’s desirable qualities.

I am going to watch this show no matter what. But someone pls explain the timing to me – Coach and Christine’s baby is old enough to be a college coach with a baby of his own, but Dauber and Judy only have a 4-year old?? What’s the time jump?? 25 years? So they waited 20 years to have a baby? (I totally just wiki’d the finale – it appears there was a time jump at the end where Tim was 10. So that explains his age in this time jump, but still not the Dauber’s baby. Except that it says she cheated on him during the series, so maybe they broke up and took a long time to get back together. Am I spending too much time on this????)

I am going to NEED Luther in a guest shot and wouldn’t mind an update on Kelly.

  3. This news just makes me more upset about the fact that they decided to kill off Christine

They had to kill off Christine because Shelley Fabares is not well enough to do the show. From a creative standpoint, it’s not realistic to have Hayden married to an off-camera Christine. I kind of wish they had gone the divorce route, but I think it would have made Hayden less sympathetic.

Love that they’re bringing back Pam Stone. Hayden and Judy’s rivalry was one of the best things about the original series. And clearly, they’ve given Dauber and Judy a late-in-life child so that they can set up the rivalry between the kids.

Makes sense to me. Can’t wait! Hope Jerry Van Dyke will be able to be in again. He was the one that made that show as funny as it was.
