Fall TV Preview
Jenna Dewan-Tatum Supergirl

Supergirl: Jenna Dewan-Tatum to Recur as Lucy Lane, Jimmy Olsen's Ex

This fall, Supergirl will be giving some serious side-eye to Jenna Dewan-Tatum; The Witches of East End alumna will recur as Lucy Lane on the CBS drama, TVLine has confirmed.

As we first reported, Lucy — sister of Lois Lane — is brash, funny and successful in her own right. In keeping with DC Comics lore, she will also be an ex-girlfriend of Jimmy Olsen (Mehcad Brooks), Kara’s new CatCo media conglom colleague. (Considering Kara’s immediate crush on Jimmy in the series’ pilot episode, Lucy’s presence will not be a welcome one.)

Lucy Lane is one of several DC Comics characters to have adopted the Superwoman mantle, though there’s no word yet on whether that will play into Dewan-Tatum’s role on the show.

Dewan-Tatum is the latest in a string of Supergirl castings, including Chris Browning (Sons of Anarchy) as villain Reactron and Peter Facinelli (Nurse Jackie) as iconic DC Comics character Maxwell Lord.

Supergirl debuts Monday, Oct. 26, at 8:30/7:30c, before moving into its regular Mondays-at-8 time slot.

  2. tp says:

Awww, I miss Witches of East End. I hope she does well on this new show.

  3. Mal says:

Oh great i love her !

  4. Mr. Tran K says:

OMG!! Channing Tatum’s wife as Lucy Lane. That’s “super” something.

  5. Cb says:

I didn’t know there was super girl and superwoman. What’s the background there

  6. Riana says:

    This is awesome.

  7. Matty Si. says:

  8. A successful Lucy is a clear opposite of previous live-action versions, such as the ones in Smallville and Lois & Clark and the one Lois referenced in Donner’s movie. As for her and Jimmy, if they’re going to make them a couple why not make him Ron Thorpe? That would actually be like the comics

  9. cyclone says:

I approve, great choice. Does anyone know if Supergirl is filming in LA or is it being transplanted to Vancouver with the other Superhero shows?

  10. Marco says:

Jenna joins DC the week after her husband officially joined Marvel. Funny coincidence! XD And funny too. Superwoman is Gambit’s wife…

  11. Luis says:

Given Kara’s reaction to the “Supergirl” moniker Cat hangs on her in the trialer, I’d say it’s a safe bet she’ll be dealing with some form of “Superwoman” at some point

  12. Bryce says:

My only thing is—why cast a bigger name who won’t stay with the show throughout its length?

    • shaun says:

Who says she won’t?She’s done tv before.

    • Sterling says:

Who si to say the character is meant to stay the entire time? She plays the ex of a character that by some trailers looks to be a love interest for the main character. I expect Lucy Lane isn’t meant to stay forever.

  13. tsevca says:

Isn´t it little harsh on the star of the show? Those two standing next to each other, people would watch Jenna, not Melissa. And I don´t mean it, because Jenna Dewan is considered super hot or something like that, she simply is the type to outshine people.
