Suits Surprise: POI's Amy Acker to Recur as Louis' Sister

There aren’t likely to be a lot of objections to this casting: As revealed for the first time in Suits‘ new promo on Wednesday night, Amy Acker will kick off a recurring stint on USA Network legal dramedy starting with next week’s episode.

Specifically, the Person of Interest fave/Whedonverse alum will play no less than Louis Litt’s sister, Esther.

The storyline: When trouble arises with her multi-million-dollar company, Esther turns to her brother’s firm for help.

Plus, as hinted in the promo, Esther may have (ahem) some special needs from Harvey.

USA Network’s Suits airs Wednesdays at 9/8c.

  1. Ian says:

Its impossible not to love Amy Acker.

  2. Lora says:

    Best casting ever.

  3. Kelly says:

    So it’s definitely multiple episodes?

  4. dman6015 says:

She needs a new gig after CBS cancels POI next year.

    • Dennis says:

    • JC says:

Forget that. POI will hopefully live on.

    • A.N. Onymous says:

Whether POI is going to get canceled or not, Root is getting too awesome for this show. She needs a spin-off. The world needs a new show about a cool female anti-hero.

      • AVansh says:

I second that. I would watch the daylights out of a Root spinoff!

      • Babygate says:

3rd. Root is the ONLY reason I’m still watching POI. Without her and with Shaw gone this show would be unwatchable to me.

      • Toots says:

A Root spinoff would be a dream come true. Amy Acker is the best thing about POI, anyway. Definitely the MVP of the last 2 seasons.

        • Prish says:

I couldn’t believe it when Root became one of my husband ‘s favorite characters in POI. She must be one fantastic actress because, believe me, that type of character is not his norm.

  5. Joey Padron says:

nice surprise to see her in preview for next episode. can’t wait to see her on the show next week!

  6. Dennis says:

I loved her on ANGEL!! Yay Fred!

  7. ZacheryD says:

Harvey is gona get Litt up by Fred!

  8. Ro says:

Maybe Root should be on Mr. Robot. :-)

    • A.N. Onymous says:

Aw come on, Root deserves much more than just to guest star, be a supporting character, etc. She’s better than that, her fans are better than that, Amy is better than that. She needs a solo show

  9. King says:

I saw this promo on last night’s Mr. Robot and I immediately scheduled next week’s Suits on my DVR! That was a nice surprise! She’s awesome.

  10. Babygate says:

    Love it!

  11. Fido says:

While Amy is undoubtably awesome, I am not looking forward to this whole “don’t sleep with my sister, Harvey” storyline.

  12. Chrissy says:

I would also totally watch a Root spin-off, with or without POI continuing. Please make this happen!

  13. HAP says:

I seem to recall POI fans complaining when Acker and Shahi joined the cast. Times change. Acker is one of the few actresses who totally inhabit the screen in any scene she plays.

  14. DramaMomma says:

Harvey isn’t going to sleep with her because that just isn’t his style. He might make Louis think that but he has more class than that.

On separate note, I was pretty much resigned to hating whoever was going to be Harvey’s secretary this season but I got to admit I love Gretchen. Her quiet presence is what he needs right now.

  15. aph1976 says:

This is good casting and i’m wondering if we might learn more about Louis in the process.

  16. Rambling Joe says:

I gave up on Suits before the start of last season when I realized there was no happy ending for Mike. He’s a con, a sham, a fraud. As brilliant and talented as he is, he never went to Harvard, never got his degree or Legal License. He’ll eventually end up being somebody’s bitch in prison.

That being said, the gorgeous and talented Amy Acker is in on my Top Ten List of Most Beautiful Women (and has been since the days of Angel). I’ll definitely be DVRing this show now just for her.

    • TV says:

I urge anybody who gave up on Suits in Season 4 to watch the first episode of Season 5. I feel like it’s a return to the Season 1 Suits we all fell in love with and I’m seeing lots of similar comments online. The writers have really stepped it up this season.
