Friday, June 26 — the cutoff date for the 2015 Emmy Awards nomination voting — is almost here. And that’s a source of both great anticipation and nameless dread for those of us obsessed with quality television.
Team TVLine has already brought you our Dream Emmy Ballots in 10 key races — click here to see our picks! — but we wanted to make one last push on behalf of a few faves whose work was so outstanding this year that even the idea of a snub makes us want to channel Empire‘s Cookie and wallop some fools with a broom.
With that said, we present the eighth of our Emmy Screening Room submissions, and it’s twofer: Justified‘s Walton Goggins and Joelle Carter, who are vying in the Supporting Actor and Supporting Actress in a Drama categories.
The setup for the clip above: Not longer after renewing their off-and-on engagement, Ava confesses to Boyd that she has been acting as a CI for lawman Raylan Givens. As Boyd takes more than a minute to process that confirmed suspicion, Ava can only fear the worst, that she’ll pay for the deception with her life. Boyd, though, presents his longtime love with an entirely different, dramatic solution — all the while knowing that his pistol is not actually loaded.
Press PLAY above for the full scene, then share your thoughts on whether Goggins and/or Carter should/will make the Emmy ballot.
