Flesh and Bone: Starz Ballet Drama Gets Premiere Date, On-Pointe Poster

Flesh and Bone Premiere Date Poster

The curtain will rise on Flesh and Bone, Starz’s limited series about the competitive world of professional ballet, on Sunday, Nov. 8, the network announced Thursday.

The drama follows young, talented, self-destructive dancer Claire (played by Sarah Hay, Black Swan) as she navigates “the dysfunction and glamour of the ballet world.” Over the course of the eight-hour series, Claire is pushed to her limits by her ballet company’s artistic director (Ben Daniels, House of Cards) and shaken by the arrival of an unwelcome visitor from her past.

Flesh and Bone was created by Breaking Bad‘s Moira Walley-Beckett. It stars Tovah Feldshuh (The Walking Dead), Josh Helman (X-Men: Days of Future Past), Damon Herriman (Justified, Battle Creek) and Tina Benko (The Good Wife).

Flesh and Bone‘s dance company includes Sascha Radetsky (Center Stage) and Emily Tyra (Boardwalk Empire). In addition, former American Ballet Theatre principal dancer Ethan Stiefel (Center Stage) was a consultant and choreographer for the series, and created a 13-minute original ballet for it. (Let us hope it features several costume changes and ends with a Jamiroquai jam.)

Below, take a gander at the series’ official poster, then hit the comments: Do you plan to twirl in tune in to Flesh and Bone?

I just dropped in to say that those feet in the picture look horrible. God, what do these women do to their feet? (Not that I like looking at “normal” feet, sooo….) Anyway, this sounds interesting. Except for the feet-stuff.

  14. Pat Cork says:

I also agree with Erin about the time factor. Why start the the ‘teases’ so early? I am a fan of ballet. To be a dancer; in my younger days, was to be my passion for life. A passion is still all it is, but because of my love for dance anything that has to do with dancing interest me. I knew the art of ballet or anything as demanding has its demons. Both the physical and emotional stress can be devastating.

  15. I am watching this show but must say the most captivating imagery is the dancer in the head credits with the red dust. The second last shot is just plainly angelic with crimson wings and I would LOVE to see a high resolution poster of this image.
