ABC's Chevy Chase-Beverly D'Angelo Comedy Pilot Undergoes Surprising Title Change

Chev & Bev are quietly going their separate ways — but in name only.

ABC has changed the title of its Chevy ChaseBeverly D’Angelo comedy pilot from Chev & Bev to simply Chevy, TVLine has learned.

According to sources, D’Angelo was not a fan of the “Bev” abbreviation, and asked to have her entire first name used. ABC instead dropped her from the title altogether and adopted the more streamlined Chevy.

An ABC rep declined to comment, but an insider at the network tells TVLine that Chev & Bev was always just a placeholder, and that titles are still being tested in the event the project gets ordered to series.

I’m told D’Angelo’s role in the pilot is not being de-emphasized, despite the title tweak. The project finds the Vacation vets playing baby boomers whose selfish retirement is upended when they are left to raise their grandchildren.

Comments are monitored, so don’t go off topic, don’t frakkin’ curse and don’t bore us with how much your coworker’s sister-in-law makes per hour. Talk smart about TV!

“Chevy and Beverley” wouldn’t have worked? Still has a kind of ring to it…

  2. Gern Blanston Jr says:

    It’s starting again.

  3. Williwasnt says:

Why not “Bevy.” Like Brangelina, only not as Brangelina-y.

  4. Phillip says:

    How about “Vacation”

    • Jack says:

It doesnt sound like thats the premise of the show, though. Plus, I am sure there are legal reasons that they cannot use it.

  5. Josh says:

I wonder if Chevy Chase who’s notorious for being a terrible human being, played a role too.

  6. Et al says:

It’s abc. Shouldn’t it have an obnoxious title like ‘Geezers’?

  7. rowan77 says:

Oof! I bet that went over like a lead balloon with D’Angelo

  8. Tony Lang says:

“About to be Canceled Anyway” would be a better title.

    • If she wanted her whole name in it… And it got scrapped all together… I’ll be waiting for a note saying that she’s dropping out of the show in no time at all. Actually, I think she might have already done it, and they are kind of hiding and seeing the public reaction. If they are as infuriated as they probably will be… Abc is gonna scrappy this thing faster than Barry Allen in his last episode!!!

  9. Lizo says:

Somehow I doubt she’s the one that had the problem with the title. :/

  10. TV Gord says:

How about “Chev and Beverly”? I’d love to be a fly on the wall to see the fragile ego of Chevy react to that!

  11. Jake says:

I have zero interest in this show under any title.

  12. Ram510 says:

Beverly and Chevy would’ve been better. ABC can never get the titles right

  13. Jonah says:

TVLine will make a news out of anything. I saw the new title on THR’s Pilot Guide a few days ago.

  14. Temperance says:

They should have just dropped the show. Seriously, why does it exist?
