Allison Janney Confirms Masters of Sex Season 3 Return

Allison Janney‘s Sex-ual awakening will continue this summer.

The actress tells TVLine she is returning to Showtime’s Masters of Sex for Season 3 — reprising her role as the repressed but increasingly self-aware Margaret Scully for an arc that will last at least three episodes.

Janney earned the 2014 Emmy as Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series last year for her work in Season 1. She only appeared in a single Season 2 installment, after Margaret and her closeted gay husband Barton (Beau Bridges) took a sabbatical after he attempted to commit suicide.

Masters of Sex “is some of the most beautiful writing I’ve ever gotten to act,” says Janney. “[Margaret] has such a rich underneath life going on. The words that come out of her mouth!”

Janney currently stars on CBS’ Mom — her 2014 Emmy as Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy provided a bookend to her Masters of Sex statuette — which is part of the reason she initially limited her participation to a trio of appearances on the Showtime drama. “Now, I think I can do more,” she adds, though no details have been finalized. “I’m hoping that Mom will have a third season — in which case I would be doing both shows at the same time. It’s going to be hard, but hopefully [it will happen].”

Janney also appeared on two episodes of Showtime’s Web Therapy late last year.

Oh good grief no. It just means he’s exhausted. Lots of people fall asleep during sex when they’re tired; it doesn’t have a thing to do with love. Please calm down

Wonder if Allison Janney is going to pulled double duty on both Masters of Sex and Mom (her own series).

I have only seen the pilot episode, and the writing is amazing. However the filming of the sex scenes are so badly done that I find it distracting to the show and the story. They can’t even show a male ass? and in order not to they have this choppiness that made me not watch the next episodes.

I really hope season 3 is better than season 2 because it was awful. I didn’t even care about Masters and Johnson and their stupid sex for research baloney. Way more interested in Libby and Dr. Langham’s shenanigans.

CBS owns SHOWTIME so it shouldn’t be a problem.
