Well hello, Governor.

Walking Dead alum David Morrissey will join the cast of CBS’ Extant when it returns this summer, our sister site Deadline reports.

Morrissey, who played the sadistic, eyepatch-sporting Governor on the gory AMC drama, will recur as Extant‘s General Tobias Shepherd.

Shepherd leads the Global Security Commission, is rather personable and has a history with Halle Berry’s Molly — a connection that makes his job tougher in light of a new, deadly threat.

Morrissey joins recent Extant addition Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Grey’s Anatomy), the first hire since CBS announced it was refocusing the series for Season 2. Where Season 1 found Molly wondering how she’d gotten pregnant with an extraterrestrial life form, upcoming episodes will follow her as she searches for her missing alien child.

Goran Visnjic, who plays Molly’s husband John, and Camryn Manheim, who plays her friend Sam, will return for a few episodes. Hiroyuki Sanada and Michael O’Neill, who played Yasumoto and Alan Sparks respectively, will not be back at all.
