Revenge's Karine Vanasse Lays Out Margaux's Plan to Destroy Emily

Revenge Season 4 Spoilers

Like so many scorned Hamptonites before her, Margaux made her first official Revenge declaration last Sunday — and now, it’s time to put that plan into action. Emily Thorne, she is coming for you.

“She’s emotional, and she has nothing left to lose,” Karine Vanasse tells TVLine of Margaux’s mental state as we head into tonight’s episode (ABC, 10/9c). “She can be quite reactive, and she’s not just going to wait for someone else to take care of things.”

Just as Margaux explained to Victoria last week, the first step in her plan is to find evidence against Emily, though she’ll quickly discover that’s easier said than done.

“Right now, she only knows Victoria’s version of the facts, so she needs to prove that this girl went too far,” Vanasse explains. “She’ll realize that everyone around her is backing Emily up, so Margaux will start to ask, ‘Why is everyone protecting this girl? What is it about her?'”

Margaux will also learn that, excluding the tiny Grayson incubating inside her, she’s basically alone in her struggle. Not even Victoria, whom Margaux “respects and admires,” is offering to lend her support. (And speaking of that tiny Grayson, don’t expect to see Margaux sporting a baby bump anytime soon.)

“It’s strange because, episode-by-episode, we really only move forward one day,” Vanasse says with a laugh. “So Margaux’s really not that pregnant. For the moment, I don’t need a baby bump. I can still fit in Margaux’s beautiful dresses and pants. We’re not moving on to pregnancy fashions yet.”

Fortunately, there is one long-awaited moment we can get excited for tonight: another spectacular Margaux-Emily face-off.

“Saying I’m going to go after her is one thing, but saying it to her face is another,” Vanasse points out. “It’s a game of cat and mouse. Margaux doesn’t know everything the audience knows about Emily, so she doesn’t really know what she’s getting herself into.”

  1. Patricia says:

It will not work out… Emily was all reason on her revenge and Margaux is all emotion… This will not be a good stoyline, they should just end the show this season

    • Andy Swift says:

I don’t think it’ll be a *pivotal* storyline, so there’s not too much to worry about there.

    • Sagami says:

I can’t wait for Margaux to find out that Daniel was also behind her father’s death. Surely that will end her vendetta against Emily??? Let’s not forget that Victoria believes Emily and Conrad planned to kill Pascal and that’s what she would have told Margaux in hospital.
I’m not too keen on Margaux myself, but I’m sure there’s one hell of a twist ahead of us! That I cannot wait to see!!!!!!!

  2. cyrano says:

Margo-away needs to go away. Rather bring back the initiative then this drivel. Margaux is easily manipulated and SHE wants to do the manipulating @itch please!

  3. schumi8 says:

The Malcolm Black storyline was cut short for this??!!! I really hope that the writers have written a series finale – at this point it is just becoming painful to watch!!

  4. Samantha says:

Ugh can Margaux just die already? I hope this plan gets her killed.

  5. JB says:

Remember when this show fun. It is hard to watch it now as everyone has just become a caricature of their already caricatured characters.

  6. Ella J. Wade says:

TIme for Margaux to go. So dull, worse part of the storyline right now. And take David Clarke with her.

  7. Sarah says:

People complained about Charlotte but I’d much rather have her back than have to put up Margaux and Louise…Revenge needs to get back to it’s roots and stop taking away their original cast and killing off some of these newbies..

    • Dude says:

Louise is great. I’d take Louise over Charlotte any day. At least Louise is likeable.

      • Samantha says:

Agreed. Louise was okay at first but when she started getting more airtime then Emily and Victoria I was done with her. I don’t care to be introduced to her entire family.

        • Anesu says:

Louise is the only new character thats worked shes way more interesting than Ashley , Margaux and Charlotte ever were as characters.
Louise is more likeable than any of those characters , l like her more every episode.
Emily and Victoria have enough screentime but Louise only seems like she appears a lot because she interacts with Nolan a lot and now Emily , she appears with lot of characters.
She has had interactions with more main characters than Margaux this season has if you count Emily ,Daniel,Margaux herself , Nolan and Victoria.
Emily and Vic fighting constantly doesnt work they need to save those moments for the right time, Louises family lm sure will probably work in the long term.
I binged watched season 4 so far in a week and l think its pretty good , I didn’t have to wait weeks for Emily to find her dad.

          • The Real Amanda Clarke says:

Louise has absolutely zero relevance to the plot line of this show. Therefore she’s a waste of screen time IMO and I really don’t care. Give her a spin off or something but she’s not needed here. She was more fun when she was crazy and obsessed with Victoria but now they’ve completely whitewashed her and meh.

        • Lindy says:

I agree with Samantha, What has qualified Louise to have 50% of the episode focused on her, She has nothing to do with the original plot of the show. I guess they had no clue how to keep Nolan’s character around and then they decided to add that dreadful character Louise to float around. I was infuriated in the episode Emily and Nolan spend all the screen time dealing with Louise & her nutty brother. I don’t really care if she’s being drugged or not, her family need to drag her back to where she came from.
And then Margaux’s revenge is not even worth an eye-roll. Yawn!
There’s nothing to look forward to anymore on this show. Emily got her father back, the people after David are dead, Victoria is as good as defeated. Can they just wrap up the series already.

    • Lea says:

I don’t get this obsession for “original cast”. People don’t stick around each other forever; some people go, new people come. It’s like you guys hate change.

      • Amber says:

Agreed! Even though I do miss Daniel. Tear. To keep the story going and not have it be redundant and ridiculous, they have to phase characters in and out…duh! Did anyone here watch Lost??! I LOVE Emily and the Hamptons. Louise is a doll and we need a little southern charm. Nolan and Jack are Em’s besties, so always enjoy having them around. Ben is a hot cop, so I’m good with him for a while. Would like to see a little more of the Charlotte/Emily dynamic play out. At the end of the day season 4 is much better than season 3 but I’ll watch regardless.

      • Nosey says:

It is not that original cast that concerned me, it is just the take down in the 1st season was what hooked me to the show, The take downs stopped and not that the new characters are bad, I just don’t see how it flows. A lot of characters are just thrown in. I am okay w/ change, I just think the story just does not flow. The entry and exits of the characters in the 1st season was awesome. Not so in trailing seasons. I mean right now the show is entertaining, and acting is great, but to me the story just does not flow. I am more interested in why these characters are needed. In the 1st season she had a photograph of which she was supposed to takedown everyone, which I am guessing died in the plane crash. She accomplished her goal in Season 1 she just did not get her man. Season 2 – 4, was more entertaining than it had anything to do w/ the plot. I have seen many of shows where characters come and go, but never took away from the roots of the show. To me it is just a different show.

  8. Daisy says:

Margaux, don’t go away mad. Just go away.

  9. SJ says:

How many “next chapters” does this show get? Just end it already. The ratings are horrible, the actors are miserable and the audience has lost all patience!

  10. Dude says:

Cannot wait till Margeaux dies. CANNOT WAIT

    • mikey says:

Problem with that is she’s pregnant, so the writers really can’t do that. She’s now pivotal to keeping the Grayson name alive. Ugh!

  11. Morgan says:

Can Margaux just stroke out and die already? You get rid of a villain like Malcolm Black only to leave us with this useless loser?

  12. Nikki says:

Can’t stand Margaux I hope Emily hangs her out to dry! Get rid of Margaux sooo boring Not a good story line end the show stretching for story lines… I like Louise

    • Cas says:

Agreed! I sorta like Louise. Can’t stand Margo. Actually I use to like her then she hooked up with Daniel and became ugh. I just wish she would get a swift kick in the ass.

  13. Matt C. says:

I have a feeling Margaux and/or her baby is going to die as a result of her “revengeda” against Emily. It’s the only thing that would reignite Victoria’s hatred against Emily, which has to happen before this season/series ends. As much as I loved and respected Victoria throwing in the towel in last week’s episode, we all know it won’t – and can’t – last forever.

  14. Jeff R. says:

I think this is actually a pretty brilliant twist, the kind that could really reinvent the show. Emily has completed her quest; now it’s time for a new Revenge story. And to set it against the shows heroine? Victoria supported the lie, so she’s less credible as out for revenge at all costs. Margaux has been hurt by the death of a loved one (parallel to what drove Amanda Clark), and she’s not going to take any prisoners while she gets her revenge. It’s really kinda brilliant!

    • mikey says:

Except Margaux is a terrible character. Doesn’t have nearly the depth of Emily. She hasn’t been training for years like Emily.

    • Desmond Kane says:

Except for the fact that Emily spent a decade preparing for her Revenge and Margo is simply grieving and hormona. While she has a reason to be upset Isn’t the same thing a having your parent framed and people condition you into thinking he did it. Margo only has the element of surpise and she’ll most likely give that away in the next episode. Besides she does have a baby to think about. That will cause Emily to tread carefully but not forever!

  15. Drew says:

At this point, they just keep throwing plots that kinda involve something revenge-ish at the wall, hoping that one will stick so the title of the show still makes sense.
The plot of the show is gone. Just end it!

    • ChicagoDan says:

Well it definitely ended with David being ‘alive,’ I still don’t get that plot choice – at all. No matter how much TVL tries to pump the REV narrative, a lot of us won’t come back. I almost wish they’d pull a DALLAS and make it so that Emily or Victoria got clocked in the head at the cemetery and it was all a bad dream.

  16. Letti says:

Obviously Margaux won’t win. But don’t you wanna see how she fails? I’m interested. Go Ems.

  17. kate says:

My reaction was more sigh. The only advantage Margaux has is that Emily feels bad for her and she is trying to start on a path of a normal life. This annoys me about Victoria more (again) that she isn’t trying to figure out a way to protect Margaux’s mental well being.

  18. Suddenly says:

I think Margaux will end up dead or at least miscarrying so that Victoria will rekindle her need for Revenge. All of the folks wishing for the show to end – why? If you don’t like it anymore don’t watch but it’s still fun and all shows like this have highs and lows. I wish they hadn’t killed off Daniel because he was the best eye candy on the show!

    • Drew says:

Seeing a show that was once really strong become a pathetic shell of its former self is not fun. Fans of what the show once was have every reason to wish for it to end.

      • Suddenly says:

How about moving on with your life and not worry about it.

        • Drew says:

The way you’re moving on and not worrying about comments that you don’t need to bother with?

          • Suddenly says:

Yes Sir, the way I don’t troll comments on an article about a show I feel should just end.

          • lauren says:

@suddenly: lol have you MET Drew? i challenge you to find him making even a neutral comment anywhere on this sight. pure venom.

          • Drew says:

Lauren, I comment on TV shows and discuss what others say about them without ever telling someone that they’re not entitled to their opinions or that they should shut up about them. There are many shows that I have plenty of nice things to say about. Revenge used to be one of them. Now it should end. My comments stating as much were never insulting to Suddenly. I simply replied to Suddenly’s comment which essentially told anyone who disagreed with his/her opinion to shut up and go away. If that sounds venomous to you, you lead a very sheltered life.

        • susan says:

And……the whiners(all of whom clearly watch the show) are back, A show clearly has to have more than one plotline/ like a concert has more than one song or you’d for real be bored. love this show!

          • Suddenly says:

Drew – I appreciate your ability to put words in my mouth “Suddenly’s comment which essentially told anyone who disagreed with his/her opinion to shut up and go away.” I simply suggested that if you don’t like the show don’t watch and then maybe it won’t bother you so much – if I didn’t still find the show fun I would simply change the channel not try to spoil the fun for anyone that still enjoyed it not to mention wish actors and crew members out of their livelihood. But alas, I realize this string of comments is why you spend time doing this sort of thing – hope you enjoyed and your day is made! Love and Kisses

          • Drew says:

Why would you ve concerning yourself with why people watch the show at all? It has nothing to do with whether or not their comments on the show are legit. Maybe people watch because their spouses make them. Maybe they watch because it’s their job. Maybe they watch because it is a habit. It doesn’t matter why they watch. Book clubs don’t only read books that everyone loves and nobody ever gives them a hard time for discussing their opinions.
I’m not the one commenting on what people do or why they do it. I was happy just discussing the TV show. How does that make me the bad guy here?

      • Glee has become a “pathetic shell of its former self.” I don’t think that Revenge has fallen nearly that far. It is not as good as it once was but I it is inconsistent at worst.

  19. Jess says:

I know that Margaux isn’t going to bring Ems down. Daniel made his choice to sacrifice himself for Emily and this needs to end. Victoria is better at Revenge then Margaux. I wish Malcolm had stayed a little longer.

  20. The Real Amanda Clarke says:

Screw all the haters, I think Margaux’s great and a lot better fit for this show than the random pantomime villain that was Malcolm Black. Karine Vanasse is awesome and a brilliant actress. I can envision this storyline not going how people expect and Margaux ending up working with Emily to take down Victoria for good when she learns the full truth. The show definitely needs to end this season though, there’s NO WAY they could stretch it out for another season.

  21. kn1231 says:

I can’t stand Margaux, but I love this plot line because I think it will lead to Margaux’s demise. Take her out Emily!

    • The Real Amanda Clarke says:

Lol, Emily isn’t going to kill a grieving pregnant woman who has done nothing worse than let herself be manipulated by Victoria. If anything, Emily would be much more likely to try and get Margaux on side and see Victoria for what she really is.

  23. Brandy says:

Ugh, Nobody cares about Margeaux! It would’ve made more sense for her to die and then have Daniel be the one to seek revenge. I fear the writers moved TOO fast with things and now they don’t know where to go.

  24. Alichat says:

Meh…..the only way to turn this around is to have Margaux figure out the truth……which is different from Victoria’s “truth”……never let Victoria have access to her grandchild, then agree to publish in her magazine the exclusive preview of Mason Treadwell’s book about Emily.

  25. amanda says:

I wish everyone on the show, Margaux included, could just be reminded of that one time Daniel shot Emily.

    • Jennie says:

I was thinking the same thing why didn’t Victoria tell her all about how Daniel shot and almost killed Emily and now Emily can never have bio children of her own. Emily could have told her as well and all of this mess goes right back to the Graysons. I’m not a big fan of Margaux but I like her better then Charlotte that’s for sure.

  26. wrstlgirl says:

in the past week I’ve deleted four shows of my series recordings from my DVR. This one is in danger of being next. Margaux I is boring and my least favorite character on the show.

  27. MIK says:

    I love this show .!!!!!!!!!!!

  28. Luis Henrique says:

I hope the series ends with Jack killing Emily (at great cost) to put an end to this never ending circle of revenge.

  29. kkgator says:

Margaux’s plan will not work out in her favor. In all likelihood, she’s going to end up doing something really stupid that causes her to miscarry. She’ll going after the wrong person.
Hopefully, before it’s all over, she’ll find out just how diabolical Victoria really is.

  30. Lisa says:

I’m entirely supportive of this show being cancelled or Margaux leaving/being killed off because dear God, please let Karine Vanasse get away from this mess already. I only started watching it for her and she’s the sole reason I’ve continued to watch it. It’s a hot mess with the worst writing on primetime and Karine (as well as others like Emily VanCamp and Madeleine Stowe) can do so much better with their careers. Please, let it end!

    • Drew says:

It is irritating to see such a strong cast, who was hired to work on very strong material in season 1, now being used for Melrose Place level badness. I would love to see Emily VanCamp on a show that was worth her talent.

    • Kristabel says:

Agreed! I’m a much bigger fan of Vanasse than I am of Revenge and I’m 100% ready for her to move on now. The writers haven’t done her talent a shred of justice since Margaux was first introduced and I don’t believe they will do in the upcoming episodes either. Watch Polytechnique , Switch or even Pan Am and then ask yourself how these writers can fail to come up with a decently written role for such a hugely talented actor. They’ve just done the same thing (but on a smaller scale) with Tommy Flanagan. What a waste.

  31. kkgator says:

After reading through some of the other comments, I thought about something else I wanted to say.
I am wholly appalled and disappointed at how Tommy Flanagan was wasted. He’s such a wonderful actor and if they’d been smart (the writers), they could have done so much more with the Malcolm Black character. Instead, they rushed through that story line and completely blew their chance. Really stupid and short-sighted.
I can’t wait for Margaux to find out that Daniel’s death was actually ALL Victoria’s fault.
If she hadn’t sent that picture of Emily to Kate Taylor, Daniel would still be alive.

  32. Betty Scott says:

Nothing to lose? How about the health of the baby??? She’s already had one health scare. This is beyond stupid. When they announced someone would die, I was hoping it was Margaux. Her storyline was always stupid with her father and Victoria and her brother, who was around for 2 episodes? This show derailed when they got away from Emily’s original revenge list. There were a hell of a lot of people in that picture that didn’t get the big red X.

  33. jolomi says:

If people in the Hamptons are this resourceful, I guess Every body should watch their backs.

  34. Paula says:

Thought the series finale was last week?

  35. Et al says:

She’s the worst thing on a show that has a lot of competition for the title.

  36. ABC says:

Too bad Margaux was’ t standing behind Malcolm when he was sent to his hellish end. I’ve hated this character from the moment it was added to the cast. In fact, that was when ‘Revenge’ itself starting going down hill. Time to kill them both off.

  37. Mary S says:

A)- I don’t like Ben, I don’t trust him – he is an opportunist with only one thing in mind: he wants to be a detective, and will do anything he can to prove he’s “worthy” of the promotion.
B)- I feel sorry for Margeaux’s predicament (daddy of her unborn child is dead, under unknown/questionable circumstances) – and I really think it’s time for her to learn as many facts of the very complicated last few years as she needs so she can grieve normally and get on with her life.
I really loved the first season when Emily was wreaking havoc…I do NOT want her to be a viable target, ever again. I do not like Emily or her loved ones being in trouble, at all. And I believe she has lost more than enough in her young lifetime, so no more of the men in her life need to be killed off!
It is time for Emily and David to put Victoria’s involvement with the betrayal in the spotlight and get their revenge on her so that David, Emily and Jack can have the close relationships that they had before Victoria entered their lives and destroyed everything. Let Margeaux learn the truth about Victoria and focus her revenge where it belongs.
I have no idea how all of that can come about, but we need to get rid of both Margeaux and Victoria-maybe they could be each other’s downfall?- Margeaux doesn’t need to be a single mother, so either she or the pregnancy needs to go. How about, Margeaux leaves the Hamptons after Victoria is dealt with, either in prison or …?
Louise will learn that it was her MOTHER who was responsible for her father’s death and she has been behind all of Louise’s problems, just to control the money. Evidence of Mom’s chicanery will be discovered and revealed and will be free to be the love of Nolan’s life.
Everything neatly wrapped up, ready for a new beginning.

  38. fatalsin says:

For me last week when Victoria said her goodbyes…. that felt like an end… maybe they should have ended there…. I really hate Margaux and her story lines…Louise does interest me but only because im southern and i love the niceties up front while you stab em in the back! lol

  39. Diz says:

She’s horrible. Kill her off already.

  40. Brian says:

Does anyone actually think that Margaux will succeed where Victoria could not? Please!!

  41. Luli101 says:

I really like Louise and Margaux. There–I said it! I liked crazy Louise, too, but this one will do.

    • Kristabel says:

You’re not the only one Lull101 but it seems to be an unfortunate fact in this fandom (as I’ve seen in other places online) that if you don’t follow the ‘popular’ opinion then you tend to get ridiculed and told that your personal opinion is flat-out wrong so I think that most fans with alternative (a.k.a. not 100% pro-Emily) viewpoints don’t even bother to speak up anymore. It’s a shame.

  42. Dennis says:

I really do love this show but…it’s becoming harder and harder to love. Like, I dont care about Margo’s revenge! I care about Emily’s! I’m beginning to think that bringing David back alive was a mistake…

  43. Gh5615 says:

Margaux and Louise are show stoppers. As in the show literally stops when they enter the picture. Horrible characters and writing. This show is going downhill very fast.

  44. pamela says:

out of all the characters on the show margaux was the one to get knocked up by daniel and stay in the storylines instead of her and her horrible haircut being written out like she should be ‘sigh’

  45. Liza says:

Margaux as an adversary for Emily is laughable!!! I thought for sure Malcolm Black would be around until the end of the season, but they cut that short and give us this?? Are you kidding me?

  46. Meh…will be reading recaps and will decide whether to watch or not.

  47. Me says:

    I still enjoy the show.

  48. Come on. Emily can take Margeaux out with a canapé toothpick at a luncheon. Yawn. Not even Nathan Stark can take on Emily and win…and I LOVES ME some Nathan Stark.

  49. Ella says:

    UGH. Terrible storyline.

  50. j says:

I hope that the truth slaps Margaux in the face 10x that she would wish she never started this vendetta. She will begin to see that Victoria has been playing her and that she should have never messed with the wrong people.
