Marvel's Agent Carter Adds Nikita Alum

Lyndsy Fonseca Agent Carter

Onetime Nikita agent Lyndsy Fonseca has joined the cast of ABC’s Marvel’s Agent Carter — though not as a gun-toting badass.

Rather, Marvel.com reports that Fonseca will play Angie Martinelli, an aspiring actress who will befriend Hayley Atwell’s titular SSR agent, as both ladies seek to cement their place in the post-war world.

Set in 1946, Agent Carter finds Peggy dealt a serious blow, marginalized when the men return home from fighting abroad. Working for the covert SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve), she must balance doing administrative work and going on secret missions for Howard Stark (Dominic Cooper, reprising his Captain America role), all while trying to navigate life as a single woman in America, having lost the love of her life, Steve Rogers.

The eight-episode Agent Carter will debut at midseason, occupying Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s time slot during the winter hiatus.

Fonseca’s other TV credits include Desperate Housewives, Big Love and the occasional How I Met Your Mother bumper.

  2. John NYC says:

Immediate bump for the show! Terrific hire.

  3. Eliza says:

Awesome! She was my favorite thing about Nikita.

  4. DL says:

Stoked for Agent Carter. I hope it gets a big ratings bump that transfers to S.H.I.E.L.D. when it returns.

  5. “Aspiring actress” I say Hydra double-agent.

  6. mike says:

Hopefully this gets picked up for the following season as well.

  7. Lisa says:

    Even more excited! A.W.E.S.O.M.E. news!

  10. feeling old says:

Showing my age here with a visual coincidence – she looks a lot like Tammy Lauren when she was in Homefront (1991 series about post war adjustment mostly about women).

  11. Olivia says:

    Definitely watching!

  12. Drew says:

Looking forward to this series, but they really need to stop adding “Marvel’s” before the title of every show they produce. If people can’t tell by the content, the infomercial has already failed.

    • Matt Webb Mitovich says:

Never gonna happen. In fact, I believe the Netflix shows are titled a la “Marvel’s Daredevil Exclusively on Netflix.”

      • Drew says:

It seems really desperate and lame. I can’t imagine a show being called “DC’s Arrow, Produced By Warner Bros… Airing On The CW… Watched By Viewers At Home”

It only adds to the feeling of the show being nothing but an infomercial for the movies which do not use the company name as part of their titles.

We don’t need to be told that Arrow, The Flash or Gotham are DC. Maybe that says something.

  13. dave says:

If the show is a great success even shield might get a huge ratings bump
Although shield might not need it because ABC can’t cancel an entire Tuesday lineup in 1 season but if it slips below 1.6 its in huge danger

  14. MTB says:

    Heck yeah!!! I love Lyndsy!

  15. brian says:

And the Young and the Restless. Hate it when people’s soap work is ignored.

    America? Wasn´t she British?
