Comedian Pete Davidson, 20, is joining the cast of SNL for its 40th season, our sister site Deadline reports, making him the only new featured player being added this year. Davidson, who recently performed a set on Jimmy Kimmel Live in April and has appeared on MTV’s Guy Code, was reportedly handpicked by SNL boss Lorne Michaels.

Ready for more of today’s newsy nuggets? Well…

* TVLine has learned that Susan Walters (Teen Wolf, The Vampire Diaries) will guest-star on Bravo’s The Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce (premiering Dec. 2) as Karen Klein, wife to C. Thomas Howell’s Nate and a class mom who disapproves of how Abby (House’s Lisa Edelstein) is handling her divorce.

* ABC Family’s The Fosters has tapped Alberto De Diego (Major Crimes) to recur in the second half of Season 2, TVLine has learned. De Diego will play Rafael, a kind-but-overworked program director — and a former foster kid, himself — at a foster drop-in facility where Callie goes for help.

Arrow Season 2’s Netflix release date has been pushed back to Oct. 8.

* VH1 has renewed Dating Naked for a second season.

Wow, a white male as a new actor on SNL. Groundbreaking.

  2. Mary says:

Oh nice. So no reviewing the second season of Arrow through Netflix before the season premiere.

  3. Eric says:

Extremely jealous of Pete Davidson, congratulations man! Hope he does well.

  4. Mireia says:

Wait, does that mean that Abby is having a relationship with a married man? Of course the wife doesn´t approve lol. It looks like GG2D is going to be really fun to watch.

    • TheJillster says:

Could be fun. Then again we’ve seen this before on other shows. I have a sinking feeling each episode is going to be Abby going from one guys’ bed to the next. :(

      • Mireia says:

I don´t know. It seems this Nate guy is a major love interest for her. He´s been around for most of the season. I think she will sleep around a little but it´s not going to be the main focus of the show.

  5. Tran says:

Can’t believe Pete Davidson is only 20 years old and he’s the youngest SNL player to date behind Abby Elliott I think. Heard the news that Mike O’Brien is now officially been removed from the SNL cast as he’s heading back to the writing staff. BTW, is Mike still dating now former Update co-anchor Cecily Strong?

  6. Danielle says:

Fosters scoop is interesting. With the Fosters and the Quinn’s seemingly ready to fight over her, wonder what Callie is doing at a foster drop in facility. Nice to see that the show will keep playing the foster system beats even though Jude is no longer a foster child and Callie got a fairy tale-twist with the millionaire dad appearing.

    • Coal says:

Let us speculate about the Callie issue 1. Her and Brandon are now a couple and it puts a spanner in her living with the Fosters. 2. The temporary measure made earlier in the season about the Fosters fostering license expiring has lapsed and she needs to leave. 3. Something bad happens to Sophia she needs psychological help which requires to live at the drop in facility. Or we are just over thinking it.

  7. leahbh says:

Really? They’re releasing arrow season 2 the same day season 3 premieres? How stupid!!

    • Jack says:

No, it comes out on DVD on September 17th. It just wont be on Netflix until 10/8. If one wants to catch up before season 3, they can buy the dvds on 9/17. Or, if they only want to Netflix it, then just record season 3 and dont watch them until you get caught up.

  8. Elaine says:

Davidson looks young and fresh so that’s good. First SNL born in the 90s’, also good. I’d have feel off my chair if Lorne had hired a female comedian born in the 90’s but that would only happen in Lorne Michael Bizarro World. Sigh. But at least he doesn’t look as white-bread-can’t-tell-one-apart-from-the-other actors…. so good for the kid. A great addition.

  9. Grace says:

I like Susan Walters, this should be an interesting role for her!

I am looking forward to Girlfriends’ Guide because of Lisa Edelstein. They say the show is based on Iovine’s books but insiders know it’s based on Marti Noxon’s divorce which I couldn’t find more boring. Fortunately Garofalo is leaving and hopefully Beau Garrett will be more than the token slut on the show but sadly, I have my reservations about that. Lisa deserved this role after a superb run in House. Everyone I know is watching because of her. Anyone else in the lead role and it wouldn’t be happening.

  10. LisaRyanC says:

Why does Girlfriend’s Guide to divorce already remind me of Sex and the City? I saw the trailer. It looks like it might be good but I am skeptical. It’s on Bravo. Strike One. I’ll admit I’m only watching because of Lisa E.

  11. dman6015 says:

SNL still needs to get rid of Jost. He, like O’Brien, needs to return to the writer’s room. Better yet, return him to the writer’s room, then fire all the writers. The show definitely needs better writers than the current batch of Harvard Lampoon types.
