The singer-actress will play Dr. Erin Grace, Chief of Staff at Ocean Park Hospital, which also happens to employ her ex-fiancée Dr. McAndrew, played by Brothers & Sisters‘ Dave Annable.

Moore’s TV credits include a string of ill-fated TV pilots (most recently CBS’ comedy Good Session), as well as a memorable arc on Grey’s Anatomy.

Red Band Society is set to premiere Wednesday, Sept. 17 at 9/8c on Fox.

  1. Anna says:

Is she still doing that pilot show with James Roday?

  2. Drew says:

    That’s so funny.

Get it? Because she was on Scrubs and… Never mind.

  3. Dean says:

It seems whenever a tv show that stars mandy moore is anounced it either doesn’t get picked up or it bombs. I give Red Band Society a few eps before being canned.

    • bar says:

There is like no logic behind that statement. She’s recurring (thus NOT starring), the pilot’s quality was A+, and it’s a clear shoe-in for success for anyone who watches the TV industry.

  4. Emily says:

She’s 30, barely old enough to play an intern let alone Chief of Staff.

    • bar says:

Okay so there’s this new thing called acting. Basically a person pretends to be that person. When they’re in character, they’re not perceived as themselves. They’re the character. So like, no Mandy Moore is not old enough to be a Chief of Staff. But her character very well could be. It’s all possible because of acting.

  5. Brigid says:

She’s a class act! Love Mandy Moore!

  6. mollytanner says:

I was bummed when her pilot with Ben McKenzie didn’t get picked up, but then of course glad it didn’t! Well, she did help Andy Roddick win his one major. If Katharine McPhee (and I like Kat) keeps getting parts, then so should she.

  7. schu says:

Gotta be honest, I don’t know why any casting director thinks she can act. And more honestly I did not enjoy the Red Band pilot. I understand kids with cancer are sympathetic, feel that in real life of course, but I made it half way through the episode and didn’t like a single character (except Octavia Spencer of course). “Give the kid some alcohol, come on he’s dying”…oh please

  8. Spoiler: She will die.
