Ratings: Big Brother Tops Utopia Debut, Shark Tank Rerun Bests Reckless

The two-hour first installment Fox’s Utopia — which TVLine readers gave an average grade of “D+” —  drew 4.6 million total viewers and a 1.9 rating on Sunday night, placing third in the 8 o’clock hour behind Big Brother and NBC football, and subject to downward adjustment once some Fox football is subtracted out.

Utopia’s three-night premiere event continues this Tuesday and Friday.

Speaking of football, NBC’s Sunday Night Football did 21.2 mil and an 8.0 per preliminary ratings, down 10 and 12 percent from last year’s Sunday opener.

Over on CBS, Big Brother (7.1 mil/2.3) surged 22 and 15 percent, placing second for the night on both counts (behind SNF). Unforgettable (7 mil/1.1) ticked up a tenth, but Reckless (4.7 mil/0.7) fell two tenths.

ABC’s Wipeout finale drew 2.4 mil and a 0.8, up two tenths week-to-week but down from last year’s finale (3.7 mil/0.9, on a Thursday). A Shark Tank repeat closed ABC’s night with 3.1 mil/1.0, building on Wipeout and trouncing CBS’ Reckless in the 10 pm hour.

    I made it 20 minutes or so and turned the channel. Once everyone started yelling at each other and swearing, I lost interest.
