I was perfectly ok on an emotional level with everything they did up until the very last. It seems such a copout that Sookie’s husband is faceless and generic and simply fits the wish that Bill had for her. I loved the circle around the table showing all the couples together, but then at the end of the scene I was just left cold and confused and wondering what on earth just happened. After thinking about it a while, I realized what they had done — that they had shown that Sookie had moved on and found a husband as well as expecting a baby, and that the husband was unidentified and generic because his identity wasn’t the point, only that he existed. But that gave me no emotional closure for Sookie whatsoever, only a logical one. I would have been much, much happier — and more emotionally satisfied — if she had ended up with Sam (now a widower) and it was his child she was expecting.
