Elizabeth Rodriguez, AKA Daya’s mom on OITNB, is joining the NBC thriller’s fourth season as Special Agent Chavez, one of four FBI agents assigned to investigate the recent homicide of Weston (played by C. Thomas Howell). While she may come off as typically no-nonsense, we’ll learn that she has a lot more invested in (and a lot more to offer to) this case than anyone could possibly have guessed.

  1. DL says:

So, in other words, she’s Wesen? :P

  2. When I saw OITNB actress, I was hoping for the woman that plays Daya.

  3. Lizo says:

Oh yay! Another female character for the Grimm writers to write as an insepid moron! Which tired sexist trope plot will she get!? Ug, the treatment of the women on this show made me stop watching. It’s deplorable.

    • Freya says:

You have to be kidding, right? I’d understand if we were talking Supernatural, but I’ve never thought of Grimm’s ‘treatment of women’ as ‘deplorable’.

There’s Juliette, who is not only intelligent, but now that she’s involved in Wesen business, she’s come into her own and is now pretty badass. Then there’s Adalind, who has been flat out badass from the beginning, but in the bad guy badass way. Sure she’s a witch, but so is the Captain. She’s another intelligent woman too; when we meet her in the beginning, she’s a well earning lawyer. She’s strong and she’s most definitely not afraid to fight back. Her Mother was a similar character. Nick’s Mother as well, is also a strong female character. She fights hard and shows no remorse, her role could have easily been Nick’s father, but it’s not. Instead we have his Mother who is perfectly capable of her role as a deadly Grimm.

The same went for his Aunt, though we don’t see much of her, more of what we hear through other characters. Then there’s Rosalee, she’s an example of a female character in the show that isn’t so big on the fighting, but she isn’t weak either. She’s highly intelligent, reasonable and loyal. I could go on and on, really, but I’m not sure what part of these characters is ‘deplorable’. We have a variety of strong female characters from different backgrounds who all have their own story and are believable. There are so many people that wish that other shows would have one character like that, and Grimm has a whole goddamn host of em. So I can only assume you haven’t watched the whole show. Agent Chavez is going to be another great character, and I’m looking forward to her storyline. Since you won’t be watching, I guess you’ll miss it.

      What are you smoking ??

  4. Jane says:

I’m more interested in who won’t be back. Please tell me that Trubel won’t be back. The character and the actress really brought the show to a stop every time she was in the screen.

  5. Jake says:

Crappy that we have to wait until the end of October for the show to return.

  6. Cary says:

Oh wow she’s GREAT on Orange/Black!!! This could be an amazing addition!
