Smallville's Michael Rosenbaum to Star as Impastor in TV Land Pilot

Michael Rosenbaum

TV’s erstwhile Lex Luthor is up to his old tricks, this time faking it as a clergyman.

Smallville alum Michael Rosenbaum has landed the lead in the TV Land pilot Impastor, our sister site Deadline reports.

The single-camera comedy from Christopher Vane (Suddenly Susan, Bill Engvall) follows a deep-in-debt scalawag who lies low in a small town by passing himself off as the gay pastor the local church recently hired.

Since wrapping his Smallville run, Rosenbaum’s TV credits have included the Fox comedy Breaking In and NBC’s Will Ferrell-produced, 1960s-set midseason comedy Mission Control, opposite Krysten Ritter (though his role, it was previously announced, will be recast).

Whenever I see pictures of him not in his Lex Luthor garb I’m always struck by how attractive he really is. I hope this show does well, though, like a lot of shows that have been popping up on TV Land, I wish it was on a different network.
