Even better, Starz released the series’ official poster, featuring stars Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan underneath the time-traveling drama’s tagline: What if your future was your past?

The series, adapted by Battlestar Galactica‘s Ronald D. Moore, follows the story of Claire Randall (played by Balfe), a married combat nurse from 1945 who is mysteriously swept back in time to 1743, where she is immediately thrown into an unknown world. When she is forced to marry Jamie Fraser (Heughan), a chivalrous and romantic young Scottish warrior, a passionate affair is ignited that tears Claire’s heart between two vastly different men in two irreconcilable lives.

I was thinking the same thing, not going out staying in and watching this, I can even believe this is happening. So far they did a great job. The cast is perfect

  10. Teag says:

Is this a romance with sci fi (time travel) or are there other elements to it?

    • Maryann says:

Romance is just one element. The series should appeal to men and women alike, if the promotion campaign doesn’t scare them off.

      • MandaJ says:

Completely agree. I was turned onto the books in the late 90’s by 2 male friends. And even my husband loves the books. Historical fiction, action, adventure, intrigue, a splash of romance. Read these books if you haven’t. You will not regret it. Well maybe you might regret some of the late nights you’ll have staying up reading til dawn. Lol.

    • Carly says:

I’d add adventure and history (Jacobite Rising in Scotland, later books feature the American Revolution) to the list, as well.

  11. Cat says:

yessss! I just read the book & adored it. Excited to see it translated to screen. Seems like it’s been perfectly cast.

  12. Starbreeze says:

Are they going to show the wife-beating also or they will ignore it…

  13. JAO says:

I’m in! Just wish the premiere was in June! Can’t wait!

  14. The best book series EVER is coming to life!

The latest book in the series is being released June 10, and now the first book in the series will be acted out right in front of our eyes with these wonderful actors!

  15. tacoma_gal says:

I don’t think she’s torn between the men as much as she’s torn between the two times, IMHO. At least not after the middle of the first book.

  16. JulieB says:

I read A LOT, and without a doubt, the Outlander book series is one of the best I’ve ever read! Diana Gabaldon is a phenomenal writer. I’m really looking forward to the TV series, and hope it sticks to the storyline of the book(s).

  17. Sue evola says:

How do we buy the poster?
