Per EW.com, the Battlestar Galactica alum will play manipulative power broker Vionda Denniger who navigates life aboard the starship Ascension, which was sent into space by the U.S. government in 1963 to populate a new world. Ascension picks up 50 years into the mission, as a mysterious murder causes those on board to wonder why they’re really there.

Helfer was last seen headlining ABC’s Killer Women, which aired six episodes earlier this year.

Jerry Seinfeld‘s Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee has been renewed for four more seasons. In addition to the previously announced fourth and fifth seasons, premiering this summer, 24 more episodes will air on Sony’s Crackle.

* And speaking of comedians in cars, Chuck‘s Yvonne Strahovski plays chauffeur in a just-released promo for the fourth season of FX’s Louie, premiering May 5. Behold:

* In addition to renewing Tyler Labine’s Deadbeat for a second season, Hulu on Wednesday announced summer premiere dates for three original returning series: The Awesomes (Aug. 4), Quick Draw (Aug. 7) and East Los High (July 9). New reality spoof The Hotwives of Orlando will premiere July 15.

* CBS is paying tribute to Judge Judy Sheindlin with a one-hour special titled Judge Judy Primetime. Airing May 20 at 8/7c, the program will reflect on Sheindlin’s career “from family court judge to pop culture phenomenon.”
