Fox has unveiled the first official photo of Donal Logue (Sons of Anarchy, Terriers) as Detective Harvey Bullock — and we’ve got it for you right here.

Gotham, which was ordered straight to series in September, explores the origin stories of future police commissioner James Gordon (Southland‘s Ben McKenzie), a young Bruce Wayne and the villains that made the titular city famous.

The “rough-around-the-edges” Bullock is Gordon’s partner and mentor, a man who “plays loose with police procedure, but gets results — and he does so with old-school, hard-ass panache.”

  1. Lo says:

Is there a TV series that Donal Logue HASN’T been on this year? lol

  2. He looks great. I’d still like to know WHEN this show takes place in. 2014/15? 2005? 1994?

    • Bruce Wayne will be about 10 years old.

      • That doesn’t really answer the question, though. Is his story starting again in 2014? Or does it take place 30 years ago (1985) in relation to the 40ish Batman Affleck will play in Man of Steel 2?

        • Kris says:

This will have no relation to the current and upcoming movies. So year doesn’t really matter. This will be a self contained series (So far).

        • Isobel says:

from Mr. Logue himself-“There are elements of it that are completely contemporary and there are pieces of it that are very old-fashioned.” Logue describes the upcoming show as having elements that feel like “the roaring 20s” with “a heavy Blade Runner vibe floating around.” He says Gotham will feel like it exists “independently of time and space in a way,” and has the ability to borrow from various genres.

  3. ActionAbe says:

Logue’s involvement in this show automatically puts it on my watch list to start out. Anything beyond a few episodes depends on how the show is.
That said, I am quite pleased to see a loosened tie that actually looks like it was loosened! One of my pet peeves is seeing disheveled characters with their ties ostensibly loosened, but the end of the tie barely brushes the top of their pants. The West Wing was a chronic offender in this regard.

    • Robby Horine says:

All due respect, Bullock has always been this disheveled person. Check out some episodes of Batman:The Animated Series, Bullock was no fashion plate even then.

  4. Dan says:

Hm, not meaning to be negative, because I like the concept of the series so far, but… It’s Bullock. In a leather jacket? That just doesn’t seem right.

    • Dan says:

Just to clarify the above comment: Bullock is dishevelled and unfashionable from inside out. So I honestly can’t see him wearing a really fancy leather jacket like that and clothes in order and so. Donal Logue, otoh, is an amazing choice.

      • Carla Krae says:

It’s a concept photo, really, this early. They’re getting essence of character. When they’re in actual production, things will adjust. I agree that the jacket looks too new.

      • websnap says:

He wasn’t at first… the job “got” to him…

  5. Will says:

    Can’t wait for this show!
Also, I’d like to believe that Ryan Atwood (Ben McKenzie’s character on The OC) became a cop (SouthLAnd) and then moved to Gotham where he later became a commissioner. ^_^

  6. Carla Krae says:

Hmm, so how does this coincide with Logue playing King Horik on Vikings? They film in summer, and historically King Horik doesn’t die for several years after the time Vikings is currently set in.

  7. Metoo says:

That’s hot. Thank god he finally cut his hair.

  8. Why the FRIG does there appear to be a BAT SIGNAL in this photo?

  9. Joey says:

Donal Logue is probably one of the main reasons I want to tune in. :D

  10. Joey Padron says:

Donal does have good look as Harvey Bullock. Excited to see show this fall.

  11. mike says:

    can’t wait for this show

  12. JM says:

Logue is a great actor. Here’s hoping he finally has found a show that lasts.

    • S. says:

It won’t. This is Fox, which will show endless seasons of 24 and American Idol while everything else ends in one or two seasons. I was very surprised they gave Sleepy Hollow a second chance, but not that it was another half season. I am looking forward to this, yes, but don’t expect it to last very long. Fox has a horrible track record with this kind of thing.
