Per our sister site Deadline

* Sommer has been cast on Good Session, CBS’ prospective comedy about a yet-to-be-cast couple, Joel and Lindsay, who learn a lot about their relationship during a seemingly simple trip to a therapist. Sommer will play Seth, Joel’s best friend from college who now lives in the suburbs with his wife and three kids.

Findlay is relocating to Shondaland for How To Get Away With Murder, ABC’s drama starring Viola Davis as a criminal defense professor who suddenly finds herself caught up in a murder plot. Findlay will play the bad-girl neighbor of law student Wes Gibbins (Alfred Enoch). (Technically, the actress’ casting is in second position to The Carrie Diaries, should the CW drama be renewed for a third season.) Also taking a stab at Murder is Billy Brown (Hostages), as a police detective having an affair with Davis’ character.

* Last seen nannying for Dexter‘s titular killer, Garcia has joined Red Zone, CBS’ drama pilot about a retired CIA operative named who is forced back into action after a major terrorist attack hits Washington, D.C. Garcia will play Vera Bradley, an intelligent case officer with the CIA’s Counter-Terrorism Department.

When actors start taking jobs in “second position” that’s not good for the show they are in :(. I’m happy for Katie, and “Murder” sound interesting and might actually go into series but I don’t want TCD cancelled :(

    • Hannah says:

The ratings should have tipped you off…

    • dude says:

The CW cancelled The Carrie Diaries when they didn’t order additional episodes.

    • Drew says:

It doesn’t mean anything that we don’t already know. The show hasn’t been renewed. Actors need to eat. Plenty of actors get second position jobs that they don’t end up working on. We just don’t remember it very often.
I wouldn’t read anything into it. The Carrie Diaries will probably be canceled, don’t get me wrong, but this particular fact doesn’t mean anything.

  2. Jared says:

I LOVED The Carrie Diaries but I doubt The CW will be renewing it for a 3rd season. Its smart of Katie to book a pilot especially with Shonda.

  3. EJ says:

TCD was lucky to get a second season, I think.

  4. Sara says:

Ah Rosie Larsen…thought she looked familiar

  5. Joey says:

Is Billy going to get killed off on this too?

    • Lori says:

Billy Brown shouldn’t get killed off but look at the bodies of work this has allowed him to participate in….dexter, the following, hostages, sons of anarchy! All smart television! He clearly is making choices that showcase his talent and he’s one of the best out there.y guess is in 3 yrs hell be doing feature films. Talented, good looking Andorra screen presence than others.

  6. Giana says:

Vera Bradley. Interesting choice for a character name.

  7. Lauren says:

Vera Bradley? Like the bags? That’s weird.

  8. DV says:

TCD can easily do the next season without her. Or at the very least tie her story up in 1-2 episodes. It’s not like Carrie stays friends with any of these people down the road. Just trying to remain hopeful

  9. Miffay says:

CW needs to order The Sopranos Diaries. The short pilot was great.

  10. GeekWithFangirlSkills says:

I’ll be happy to see Aimee Garcia in Red Zone. She was great in Vegas.
