Ryan’s John Constantine is a “master of the occult” who’s haunted by his past but finds himself suddenly called upon to defend humanity from the gathering forces of darkness.

Daniel Cerone (Dexter) penned the pilot and will executive-produce the project with David Goyer (Batman Begins) and Warner Bros. Television.

Ryan played Matt Rawson on the short-lived Criminal Minds spin-off. He’s also had roles on TorchwoodThe Tudors and Vikings.

  • He’d BETTER dye his hair blond.

    • Why? Is his hair colour that important to the character?

      • Yes it is, dude.

    • Frankly, I care less about that than the maintain that he’s bisexual, which seems more critical to his actual character.

      • Ugh, I hope not. That stuff is so played out lately.

        • Since there approximately ZERO bixsexual men on network TV – preceded by a virtually perfect record f ZERO bisexual men on TV, I’m not sure how sane it is to say ‘that stuff is played out’. What’s ‘played out’ is the virtually endless white-, male-, and hetero-washing of TV. A gritty, macho, bisexual anti-hero is exactly what TV needs.

          • Nolan Ross (played by Gabriel Mann) in Revenge is bisexual so it’s inaccurate to say there are “ZERO bisexual men on network TV”.

  • Cool I’m looking forward to this and all other DC comics adaptations. Hopefully this will be like Arrow and other DC characters pop up.

  • Are you one hundred percent certain it’s the QB for the Falcons with a bad Welsh accent?

  • My interest in this project went up, assuming they keep John’s British accent.

  • As foul mouthed as the characters in the comic are, watering it down for prime time doesn’t make me happy. Put it on one of the pay channels and let her rip.

    • Or just put it in the 10pm slot and then they can do the same things you see on HBO and the likes.

  • Okay, British actor. They managed to get the first thing right. Now get him a hair cut and a blond dye job/wig and things might work out. A dark-haired Constantine would invoke that abominable Keanu Reeves movie..
