      • Lorne Michaels is exec producing. I bet he recommended her for it. When he really likes you (Fey, Meyers, Fallon, Mulaney, he helps set you up elsewhere. Speaks well of Nasim. Good for her.

  • What is it with Hollywood deciding that just about every show must have at least one gay or a gay couple?
    No really, what is it?

Does Hollywood feel that 30-40% of the population is gay? You would certainly think so.

They seem insistent on doing this despite the fact that almost every show with a predominantly gay theme has failed in they past 2 seasons.

      • It’s actually “hear, hear.” And what’s wrong with diversity? Do you feel the same way about the inclusion of any non-white character?

        • Diversity is perversity

    • Do tell, what is a “predominately gay theme”? Disco balls and Cher?

Do you refer to shows about heterosexual couples as having a “heterosexual theme”?

    • What is the percentage of the population that has gay friends, family, coworkers, or neighbors? Perhaps Hollywood feels that a universe which doesn’t have at least one gay character (i.e. 0%) is neither inclusive nor realistic. It makes me terribly sad that for some people, one guest stint on one episode that may remotely represent their life experiences is still considered news. Can you imagine?

    • How come every time a gay couple comes onto a tv show, some MORON like j Norman has to whine about it. Yeah idiot, heterosexuals make up 95% of the media. So SHUT UP.

    • FACTS
      1. Most shows don’t have any major gay characters who appear on a regular basis.
2, The percentage of gay characters on TV is WAY below 30-40%,
      3. Most shows of ANY nature fail. Well over half of all new broadcast network series don’t make it to a second season, no matter what they’re about.
      4. You’re a homophobe.

  • I think it would be better to have Penny Marshall and Cindy Williams play Laverne and Shirley as a lesbian couple. That would be beyond awesome.

  • J. Norman, you are right. Gays are less than 5% of the population, yet you’d think they were 80% with every show having a gay person or couple lately. The Disney channel now has a show with a lesbian couple!

    • Until I can read an article like this and not come across homophobic comments, there will never be enough LGBTQ representation on television. Thank goodness for Mulvaney, Michaels, Marshall, Bracco, and especially Disney.

  • Doesn’t lorraine bracco also star in “rizzoli and isles” as Angie Harmon’s (rizzoli) mother. Will she be quitting that show.

    • I don’t think she will leave R&I. She’s only supposed to guest star in episode 2. She won’t be recurring.

  • Wow I see that certain posts were “re-ordered” in this thread! How convenient for the <5% of the population to straight bash. What happened to the gay channels Bravo and Logo? Not enough?
