TVLine Items: Michael Pitt Devours Key Hannibal Role, Chicago P.D.'s Shift Extended and More

Michael Pitt HannibalBoardwalk Empire castoff Michael Pitt is returning to the small screen via a pivotal role on NBC’s Hannibal.

As scooped by EW.com, Pitt will recur as Mason Verger, an unstable wealthy patient of Dr. Hannibal Lecter who begins a dangerous cat-and-mouse game with the deadly serial killer. (Gary Oldman played an older version of the same character in 2001’s Hannibal pic.)

As we previously reported, the role of Mason’s somewhat unhinged sister, Margo, will be played by Canadian scream queen Katharine Isabelle.

Yay for Chicago PD :-) Well deserved. I’m not sure how I feel about Eileen Davidson returning to Days for more Kristen DiMera. I don’t like the character and hate that she gets so much screen time at the expense of other actors/stories. She’s likely going to be pregnant with a miracle baby (or Satan baby, lol), even though she’s been infertile for years. I really hope not, these stories are so overdone it’s ridiculous. On the flip side of that I can record the episodes and FF through all of her scenes and get done watching in record time!! :-) :-)

Michael Pitt for Mason Verger is such perfect casting I can scarcely believe it; can’t wait to watch.

Hope Chicago PD gets renewed for a second season by NBC. One of the best spin-offs in years in my opinion.

  5. Anna says:

Really liking CPD, so glad to hear that. I’m guessing that greatly improves its chance of renewal. :)

  6. JJ says:

Pitt’s looking ROUGH. Maybe the rumors are true.

  7. Eliza says:

I have been enjoying Chicago PD. Great cast & good stories thus far.
I’m obsessed with anything Henry VIII (historically accurate or not). And Damian was fantastic on Homeland. I never pictured him playing the Tudor King but I’m sure he’ll do amazing work.

    • Hannah says:

There are so many juicy stories in British history and the Tudors ended only 4 years ago, I wish they’d do another king. That’s the only way to teach history to those who are generally not interested in it.

So happy for Chicago PD! I really love Chicago Fire and was happy when they said we would get Chicago PD and it is living up to expectations!

  9. Hannah says:

Aly Forrester is all grown up? It’s interesting how SORAS affects different children at different stages of life. This could almost make me watch it again, almost!
