The project, titled Madam Secretary, chronicles the personal and professional life of a maverick female SoS as she drives international diplomacy, wrangles office politics and balances a complex family life.

This actually sounds interesting. I’m gonna have to keep an eye on it.

  2. meatwad says:

could be interesting with the right lead

  3. jasie says:

I know they will probably go younger but this sounds like a great role for Glenn Close.

    • Dansforth says:

YES! GLENN CLOSE! She would be PERFECT! She’s gold in any role she plays! Been missing her since DAMAGES!

      • Oliver Queen says:

Anybody BUT Glenn Close, PLEASE!!!! She is so yesterday and boring that she’d be a show killer right out of the box. Way too old and demographically unappealing for this role.

Go with someone younger. 38 to 42 max. Dangle the cash in front of a slipping A list star to move to television but not a grandma geezer like Close.

  4. Tran 2.0 says:

One Last Thing fka Horse and Wagon was the best episode Barbara Hall wrote on Homeland.

  5. Butters says:

Didn’t they already do this show with Sigourney Weaver?

  6. Riley says:

This sounds amazing! I hope they cast a leading lady with the likes of Julianna Margulies’ depth and skills and not another youngster. So many great actresses in their forties/fifties around don’t have a show to showcase their talent. I would love for this show to follow the path of The Good Wife.
I’m thinking Calista Flockhart, Marcia cross, Felicity Huffman, Lisa Edelstein, Kate Walsh, and any of the great AA actresses from Kerry Washington’s generation.

  7. woodyinho says:

    Political Animals rehash

  8. meah says:

    Angella Bassett

  9. Apples says:

A Condy Rice-esque inspiration would be great, they could cast someone like Gina Torres

  10. Ally Oop says:

This will be awful. Though I like politics I always cringe while watching American political shows. As a Canadian, it’s difficult for me to deal clearheadedly with American political stories. I will definitely pass on this.

  11. Anne says:

Hostages part 2…only this time it is the sec of state who is holding the government hostage until they bomb 13 people in Yemen with no terrorist connection.

    • Les Legato says:

      You have it bass-ackward.

This will be about HRC who pumps up the jihadistinians while screwing Israel, who sets the stage for Kerry and Obama to ease the sanctions on the iranians so they can build nuclear weapons to attack Israel, and eventually is so involved with her Muslim Sisterhood, bi-sexual chief of staff that she allows 4 Americans to be raped and murdered in Benghazi.

      Film at 11.

  12. lll says:

I agree with everyone here. The plot will only work if the lead is good. This is not the time to get a lead that will crap on the role. Going with an established actress is going to be better than an unknown because this woman will carry the show. This is another way CBS can get females to lead on their network besides the Good Wife.

  13. Heathers says:

Pass. Sounds boring, and I’m sure they’ll put some left wing twist into it, since it’s a network show.

  14. Guys, why would you delete a comment about the Blind Item? What the heck is going on here?

  15. Weezy says:

More unrealistic nonsense…brought to you by CBS of course. The largest network recipient of government bailout money.

  16. Skip says:

Hmmm… I wonder, could there be a former female SoS who may be running for President in 2016, who could possibly benefit from a show that presents a strong, positive image of such a character? Naw… Hollywood would never do anything like that, would they? /sarc

  17. Scott says:

Are they going to call it “I Dream of Hillary”?

  18. CarlyC says:

Will they include a terrorist attack where 4 Americans are killed in Benghazi and the Secty of State didn’t answer the 3 am call…or any other call for help for that matter?

  19. Lee says:

Sounds like a soft sell of Hillary Clinton…Maybe the show will be good, but any show suggesting Clinton (however indirectly) to me is annoying…and not likely to be on my watchlist.

  20. Candace gross says:

Sounds very good and we need more intelligent programming.with the horrific reality junk out there !!!

  21. Suetellez says:

When is Madame secretary coming back to TV
